Justin, its not so much the lifting of the truck that decreases mileage .. it is the addition of the larger tires that decreases power and mileage.. by how much it all depends on the size of the tire , your engine and your gearing..

Stuart, Im pretty sure that truck is running 33x12.5, Superlifted

Look into bodylifts.. they are a fraction of the cost of a superlift

I see what you mean, I'm guessing when my buddy lifted his Chevy and added the larger tires, he didn't ever consider the gearing. Which explains why he has suck a hard time pulling trailers.

yeah gearing is defiantly a big thing and should not be overlooked.
truck will drive like a hog if the gearing isnt proper.. not to mention stress on the tranny etc.

and stuart.. i believe there are some people out there with 33x12.5 on a 15x7 rim.. though a 15x8 is recommend..

Confused about lift? Will putting a pa 3 inch body lift on my truck let me run 33's?

I just turned 16 and got my license and got a 01 ranger 4x4 extended cab step side bed with the 4.0l v6. Im lookin to lift my truck but i dont have a boat load of money. After reading alot i think that im gonna go with the pa 3 inch body lift. If i do this can i still get the interco super swamper Trxus radials 33x12.5x18 and the kmc gtx 18x10 black rims. Would the tires rub? how bad would the tires ride on the road? and what size backspace would i need to get on the rims? the 6.09 backspace with 15mm offset or the 7 inch backspace with 38mm offset? Please help me out here. Thanks

James....if you're 16 and don't want to spend a butt load of money, why are you even considering a $2000 wheel/tire combo in the first place?? You're asking alot of questions here...may be best to just make a new thread so it gets seen by more people.

I'll have alot more in my reply to your PM.

here are some before and after torsion crank pics.

Before

After

Next to the neighbors 2001 XLT 4x4 4.0 Manual (all 3 of them are... Mine is in the middle)

The Picture doesn't show a whole lot, but the truck does sit at a slightly different angle than the stock white one.

And, sitting next to my friends (leaning...) avalanche... My Ranger'll kick that trucks *** all over the place if we ever go off-roading together lol.

Can you send me a line to get the Dixion brothers Racing LT 4x4 kit please? And out of couriosity is there a kit out there with a potential for longer travel and higher ride hight? For the rear suspension is there any special kit or anything needed to make it work with the fron long travel?

everything you need to know;

Home - Long Travel Suspensions - Dixon Bros Racing

Bed cage the rear with some deaver springs is the easiest but you can get crazy if you want and run a link set up. also if you need to keep your bed space dixon sells a sweet cantilever rear suspension set up.

if you are looking for more then 14in of travel the new camburg kit is 15in with 4x4 16in without. but it cost a pretty penny at 6500 and is brand new.

superlift makes a 4" kit that you can convert to coil overs like the RCD kit had.

That's a nice little write up ... now you got me interested in the Dixion brothers Racing 2WD kit.
14" of wheel travel is amazing.
