Wassup guys, well my ex g/f wrecked my truck and messed up the front end pretty good and im wanting to SAS my truck with a wagoneer d44 my uncle has. my truck is a 00 2wd xlt with coils, but im wanting to use leaves up front, will prolly go with 2.5" RE YJ springs for now, since i already have them in the shed. Ive been searching on here all day and im trying to figure out the best way to do my mounts to keep the camber in check. should i go shackle reversal or shackle in front?? the SRS pics i saw the camber looked waaay off, but it looks like it depends on how far the spring mounts hang in the front, i want it to look as stock as possible. i DONT want to run coils or coilovers for the ease of fabrication, plus i dont have access to bending tools. also the steering...i want to run a 90's yota steering box and ive read it needs be be outside the fram, anyone have any mounting pics with the yota box??? also if anyone has them can i get some pics of leaf SAS with shackle in front, and some with it in back??? i just want to have everything i need when i start to do it. im mounting axle and getting steering right in stage 1, then after its drivable gonna swap trannys and add a tcase to make 4wd...thanks!!!

 

Please, just search. This isn't something you can just jump into. The steering is very important obviously.

And by camber do you mean pinion angle?
And you already have coil buckets, why not stick with coils?

Hit the project logs there are enough out there to give you a good idea of what to do and what not to do.

dont wanna go with coils because i already have some leaves, btw leaves are easier and my axle im using are already set up SOA with leaf mounts...btw i have searched and have been on pirate4x4 all week. im am not new to this as i have SAS's my old 86 yota, but the steering is what confused me, i would like to have pics of the mounts to see wat works and what doesnt...when your camber is off u get bumpsteer from hell, and id like to keep from having to grind and reweld the knuckles...not to b a dick but ive "searched" all week long and the thread u linked is a good thread but that doesnt really open my options, ive read so many threads on here and would like to get peoples opinion of SRS or shackle in the front...btw ive been looking at steering options and i see people mount yota boxes outside the fram and i have the room to mount them inside the frame since i have the 2.5...so i wanted to see pics of setup because from the looks of it the steering shaft will be at a severe angle

btw everyone screams go coils go coils cuz i already have em, if u research u will see that i will have to butch my frame up to run them since i have this huge bulge from the stock coil seat...also u can leaf the spring seat stock because during flex the top of the coil will contact the outer part of the bulge on the frame

thanks for the pics, sorry i was a dick, i had been searching the whole week, but couldnt find much on shackle in the front. now i come to a question, the huge *** crossmember hanging down(where the motor mounts are welded to), after u cut them do u need to brace them, or are they strong enough to hold the motor up? how does yours drive? i'd figure since your dranglink isnt very long u must have some major bumpsteer? besides that how does it drive and handle? i used to have a jeep YJ SOA with no trac bars or sway bars, prolly aint that bad huh?

that box wont mount on the inside but take a look at a 93-97 ranger box, might work well.

 

chainfire any pics of your shaft goin to the yota box with it on the truck, thats the part that has me confused, my steering shaft looks too far inwards to go to the outside framerail

 

mount your steering box outside the from to avoid any clearance issues. and put your shackle in the back. coming from a yota guy im surprised you asked that question. you can use your toyota box or like beard said, the ranger box is decent if you find one thats in good shape.

 

yota was a totally different ball game...i just bought the kit from all pro offroad and welded it up lol, also bought the high steer setup from all pro as well, went smooth as glass

 

haha well i would measure but if you have an ifs toyota box i think the all pro steering setup is very close to what you will need. their sas kit is close but your still going to have to fab some so its almost not even worth it. i would go to diy4x.com and maybe skyy manufacturing to get some spring perches and some shackles. diy4x makes killer hangars so maybe that will help you out.


rangers a re a whole new world from yotas. good luck on the switch. lol. its gonna be alot more work than that allpro kit

 

im a little confused on what your saying...i sold the old yota, and im not putting a yota axle in. i dont need a steering setup because im gonna make my own. i just want to use the yota box because there are alot of people running em. i am just wandering about my steering shaft crossing the frame and being at a sever left angle. if i did anything i would buy a SRS kit for a jeep YJ, as thats how the perches are setup on the d44 im gonna run

 

just do crossover steering on to lessen the angle of your drag link. that and a nice drop piman and you should have it covered. put the steerin box on the outside of the frame and you will be ok. its not that bad of an angle. theres a writeup somewhere around here on how to use some e250 shaft and some other pieces. its a good writeup. look into that and youll be ok. its to mate to a yota box too

dam sorry thought it was yers...im ready to soa and this aint my first rodeo, im just learning wat works, i sas'd my z71 and yota, and Soa'd my YJ on d60F and 14b rear....ranger game is new to me, t-case and tranny part i got, but the steeering is what gets me...o well every rig is different
