Ok so i am wondering.....
I went to 4 wheel parts in marietta yesterday, and i was looking to try and match the 3" of lift that i'm going to get out of the Doestch 3" lift spindles, for the rear of my truck. So i was wondering what kinda block kit and shocks i could use to get the 3" in the back. i already have the Edelbrock Preformer IAS shocks all around and was looking to get the shocks in a +3" from Edelbrock. As we were talking and looked at another 4wd truck of the same year as mine out in the lot, we discovered that the 4wd drive in this year had a factory 3" blocks in the rear and had longer shocks to accomidate the larger blocks. I have the 98 2wd. Can anyone tell me if i order a 3" block kit and the 4wd shocks for the 98 will it work?

no block IMO. Get regular 4x4 ranger shocks. Use a short AAL(should get about 1.5" out of 'em)($35 from 4wheelparts) and a chevy 2" drop shackle(which will lift a ranger about 1.5")(should be about $40-50 from 4wheelparts). Oh...and should you order that shackle from them, dont listen to 'em when they say it's for a chevy and wont work on a ranger....most those guys dont know ****...they just look at part numbers and prices. that's it.

Okay so AAL? not so familiar what that term.... :-(
drop shackels for a lift...can you explain a little more? like would that go in place of my existing leaf spring shackels? and actually give it lift?
Thanks for the ideas guys, i have been researching this stuff for four years and still leaning more. Close to actually doing it so i'm trying to make sure i do it right and get the parts i need....
