Broke a leaf spring

Well driving my truck last night i kept hearing this clinking noise and it didnt sound like my exhaust so when i got it home i looked under the truck with a flash light and well there it was i broke the middle leaf spring. well now im trying to find some explorer leafs so i can get around 2 inches of lift.

so i want a high spring rate leaf because of how much i tow and weight in my bed.

what are the codes the the leafs like the tbars like the #1s are the stiffest. what would the stiffest leaf spring be?

Thanks

Cam

did you not notice the leaf bad or starting to go bad by it sliding out of the pack when you did your explorer axle swap swap?

I mean its kind of hard to miss when your doing that type of work so you claimed to do.

Did you put shocks on yet?

its not because you dont have shocks, all rangers have a problem with the middle leaf sliding out of the pack breaking.

My 98 did it about 4 years ago and the place i took it to says they have rangers coming in daily with the problem and while i was there, there was 3-4 rangers getting worked on as well with the same problem.

Still no excuse to be driving your truck around with no shocks talk about a hack job of a swap.

Why the f are you driving around with no shocks anyway?
It's a good way to lose control of the truck and run in to something.

I thought you got that car as a present? Sounds like its time to make a junkyard run! My manual says the leaf packs are 3, C and K. So I'm guessing 3 is the strongest, that is 04 though so the other years might be different.

C is the tow package, so that means you'll have stiffer leafs, because that's what mine has.

Explorer leafs arent the same ratings as the ranger. I've never found that info yet either. Every thread I've read about explorer leaf spring swaps used leafs out of a 91-94 4 door 4x4 with 4 leafs in the pack. I have the same but i havent put them on yet. Sorry I cant be more help. Good luck!

The tabs broke from simply going over bumps? Either K or C rated Ranger springs would do the job, C being a little stiffer.

I actually drove my truck with no shocks for a couple of days when I first got my Deavers. I thought it was smooth at first but quickly figured out it was too bouncy to stand for very long.

So I just went through this thread and deleted all of your deconstructive bullcrap built up teenage testosterone idiotic replies. I don't know what it is about some of you that you just can't get by a single day without being total *******s. I'm so sick of this crap every damn day here from the SAME PEOPLE ALL THE TIME.

So I'm done chasing you around cleaning up after your inability to control yourselves. I'm just going to start issuing forth temporary bans until you grow the hell up.

Not sure about the older rangers, but I replaced my stock leafs with explorer leafs on my 03 and I added in the AAL while i was there...

As much as you tow, I would get some AAL's before you install them
