towing my 02 ranger behind my RV ??

I have a 2002 Ranger 4x4 with an automatic trany. What do I need to do to the truck so I can flat tow it behind my RV without burning up the trany.

The owners manual is your friend... But I don't think they suggest flat towing an auto... The ones with a manual T-case can be put in neutral for flat towing. But the manual has a section in it. Hope that helps a bit.

The guides say you can't tow it flat without burning up the tranny.

you can NOT tow any car flat with an auto tranny, unless it has a manual T-case, and you can put the T-case in neutral. The tranny will be turning and the pump will not be running. You can not even tow it with a 2 wheel dolly on the rear tires. Really I would put it on a trailer because trailer tires cost less the the tires on your truck.

The trailer thing is your best bet, and i think it it would reduce the chance of rocks, sticks, etc. from hitting your truck.

They make a kit for explorers to flat tow... but I dont think it works on rangers.
You would have to dolly it and disconnect the rear driveshaft.. or trailer it.
