broken leaf spring mount
brought my 92 ranger into the shop today to replace the starter since it was not engaging and got my first good look of the underside. for a few months now i have noticed that it leans a little towards the rear passenger side and looked underneath but couldnt see anything wrong so figured it was just worn out shocks or tired leaf springs. well up on the lift today i saw what the issue is. the mount on the frame rail where the shackle mounts too is completely rusted through and the shackle is resting on the bottom of the truck bed and poking a hole through the truck bed! i need to fix this soon or else after a few good potholes i figure that shackle will find itself the rest of the way through the truck bed which will be bad news.
this truck is just a winter beater and i plan on selling it soon in the spring once the weather gets warmer so i dont want to put much money into it. can this mount on the frame be purchased or is this something i will have to fab up with some metal? anyone else experience this problem or here of it happening before?
