New shocks w/lift in back?
I am getting prepared to get together my lift over the winter to have installed by the spring.
I am gonna do spindles in the front, but for the back I am probably going to go with a 3" block, as I have no blocks as of yet.
Here is the thing....I am a 2wd XLT -> coils up front, so no block in the back right now. In the back, its an axle with spring right on top.
If i do the 3" blocks, can I keep my stock shocks? From what I understand, the shocks I have are the same as all the other rangers which come with a 2" block in the back, so can I just block it and be done with it?

But if I put some blocks in the back, wouldn't the rear end act just like an Edge edition? Or are my shocks different from those put on an edge from the factory?
My offroading consists of unmaintained backcountry forest roads to go fishing, so nothing too hardcore like some of you guys, but I need the ground clearance, so hence the lift.

yeah you gotta replace shocks trust me. i bought me some pro comps before i put my blocks in and put my coil spring spacers on and now i gotta go slow over speed bumps and can hit any hard bumps off-road or my shocks extend out all the way and make a horrible noise. gotta get me some new ones before i break mine.

The edge, 4x4 and Trailheads all have the same shocks because of the 2.5 blocks
ur coil sprung would have a 2.5 in shorter shock
You will need to replace ur Shocks or they will bottom out and limit any flex that is left or worse blow out

Before you buy, get the shock that best suits your driving. If you tow, haul, or offroad alot, I recommend any high-pressure monotube shock(KYB and Bilstein).
If its just a street queen, regular ole twintube shocks will be just fine.(Monroe, skyjacker, Rancho, Gabriel...)

A good offroad shock is gonna be a monotube like I said before. Be sure its a known name shock.
"offroad shocks" can be any shock. Dont let em sell you somethin you dont need.
