i know one of the companys makes a kit to swap in reservoir shocks on a stock height 4wd truck, cant find it anywhere or remember who makes it, any help would be greatly appreciated...

u can swap in resevoir shocks without a kit theres an adatper that turns it into an eyelet shock mount and then u haf to mount the resevoir

um.....ya but if you think about it, the kit is going to include that plus the shocks therfore making it a kit........gonna have to buy it all eitherway

 

The kit comes with a lower shock mount and the 7100 goes into the upper stock mount, no eye bolt to stem conversion

 

Sorry for my ignorance but why would you want to put resi shocks on a stock 4x4? Are we talking out back or in front?

I think resi's are overkill for our trucks unless you plan on going and beating the crap out of it in the desert or something. Especially on a stock height truck.

 

id rather save my money from getting a drop bracket suspension lift and spend extra money on the best shocks money can buy

 

I don't see the point in spending all that money when you can get a shock that will just as well for cheaper. Hey its your money, not mine.

 

I could see a benifit if it allowed more use-able travel up front but besides providing a little more adjustment for a better ride would it actually allow the truck more potential? I would love to have the coin to throw an LT kit in my truck but that is definitly not an option at this point. Could resi shocks, new leafs and new shocks in the rear actually provide a better working offroad setup that is somewhere between stock/just upgraded standard shocks and an LT setup?

 

I made my own lower shock mounts and limit strap mounts but this is basically what the Camburg 7100 conversion looks like:

 

stock suspension's especially with the swaybar... have very little travel.

 

totally agree with the swaybars there is not much difference, i just got off the phone with camburg and they are going to get me king reservoir's for the same price, from what ive read there is only about an inch more travel gained but for 500 dollars i dont see a huge hit imo

yes but you have to watch what you are doing.

i think that 7100 upgrade is a good idea, back before other kits came out people were jumping it and working the stock suspension pretty hard.

DBR runs the stock ranger in the one class and it works really well for a stock system. all on your wheeling style.

 

Any more details on this? Not talking about the 4x4 LT kit are you?

Being in Minnesota I am not looking for (and cannot afford) a hardcore long travel kit. I am merely looking for decent offroad capability, good on road ride (its my DD), functional 4x4, and the ability to handle some high speed bumps and bounces and not really interested in a BL or drop bracket setup. Also don't really have a need for anything larger than a 33" tire.

 

its not that your just gaining and inch, they took the front end apart and figured out how much travel you can safely achieve, its not just thrown together, it just so happens you can gain about an inch of lift and gain some travel, the kit is put together by camburg, its no longer on the website but i talked to them today and they still have the kits, you can get the billstein 7100's or some kings, i dont want to jump my truck just cause thats not what its made to do, im not looking to get a lift kit cause i wont be gaining any ground clearence cause im already running 33's and the LT is really what i want, just dont want to drop the 3k plus......at the moment, for where i take my truck this will work great.........

 

What are you going to be using the truck for? Like what kind of offroading?

haha are you kidding?????? why would i jump a truck thats not built to???? thats just retarted and askin to break ****, my truck spends more time in the dirt that half the truck on here i can assure you that, go get a transfer case than come talk to me........
