You can fit 35s no prob, I do without a body lift. 8.8 rearend should handle, not too sure about 7.5s...

You are doing spindles + BL ? You should be able to clear way more then the drivetrain can handle. I am running 35's with BL and AAL's. I am not sure how big of a tire you can handle. First off do you have a 7.5" rear or 8.8. Don't hold me too it but I think a stock 8.8 28 spline setup is good for 37 inch tires.

You can fit the 35" tires but your going to need new rear gears, 4.10 probably, now way your stock gears can handle 35"s.

they could handle em just fine.... as far as how fast you would go tkaing off would be another story, it'd be a dog.

The lower ratio gear set, the stronger they are. 3.55's are "stronger" than 4.88's.

With 35s I'd make sure you have an 8.8" rear end and atleast 4.56 gears. And i wouldn't advise anything bigger than 35s.

Guys, remember he's a 2wd xlt equivalent. He sits about 3-4" lower than a stock edge. 35s should fit, but I would highly advise against anything bigger.

If you're pavement pounding with an open differential, a 28-spline axle isn't going to have any problems with a 35" tire.

Isn't the DUAL SPORT the edge equivalent?

My 4.10 gears handle my 35's just fine, I even towed over 3,000 lbs of car dolly and car w/o trailor brakes just fine. I had a little trouble taking off from a red light at the bottom of a hill. I have a stick so I am going to have those problems. I think 4.10's are the prefect gears for 35's. I am going to upgrade gears one day but only because I plan on towing often. I am not sure if you have an 8.8 rear or 7.5 if you have an 8.8 go for it. You have 3.55 gears right ? If you are thinking about re-gearing anyway you might as weel go with 4.56's for some extra power. Even if the 3.55 can handle the 35's I don't think it is going to be fun to drive. I know my acceleration and performance is crap compared to what it was stock and with 3.55 its going to be worse. Personally if i was you and you have a 8.8 rear with 3.55 gears I would re-gear to 4.56's and if you have an open rear I would put a LS in while you are in there. If you have a 7.5 rear I would do a 8.8 and 31 spline swap off of an FX4 L2. That would be the easiest thing to do find an FX4 L2 and take the whole rear then you would have the 8.8 and 31 spline and LS and 4.10 gears.

Im sure with 35" tires and 3.55 gears it would be a little "much" stress on the other drivetrain components.....Like everyone elese is saying, 4.56 will do you good.

true 3.55 will stress the rest of the drivetrain but even if it didn't it will be slower then a loaded dump truck and no fun to drive.

You B3000 is about the same truck as my 2002 Ranger 4x2 Edge. The fit will be NO problem with what you're doing -- but driving it will be another matter.

So, although you can fit 35's, you WILL want to pay attention to the drivetrain. Most trucks like yours come with 3.73 gears. Mine came with 4.10 and it only feels "right" with 35's with 4.56 gears.

Auto transmission? Better that than manual if you run stock gearing. We've seen one member already destroy a shaft (tranny or tcase, don't remember) presumably because of the larger tires with stock gearing. The load flows back "uphill" and it's not just your axles and differential that see the stress. In fact, they may be able to handle it the best.

If you don't use your truck for much that would stress the drivetrain, you certainly can run your stock gears -- but you truck will be a real dog. Yes, some say the 3.0 is a dog anyway; however, 35's and 3.73 gears you will experience a REAL bad loss of acceleration.

Ball joints and what not up front will be under more stress, for sure. Figure that you'll be doing them more often on 35's -- our balljoints are pretty crappy to begin with which we were told by some, and now have plenty of evidence for!!!

I'm not sure I agree for two reasons:

1) It's still quite a bit of drivetrain stress, particularly for our relatively weak transmissions.

2) YOU HAVE A 4.0 YOU LUCKY DOG, LOL!!! 4.10 will not be enough for a 3.0.

Forget discussing 3.55 gears -- they don't put them in 3.0's -- only 4.0's from what I've seen. The "standard" gearing for a 3.0 Dual Sport or Edge is 3.73.

Yeah there is the difference I have a 4.0L. I didn't think what motor he has yeah if he the 3.0L then yes most deffiently 4.56 or 4.88's are required. If for no other reason 4.56's are needed to keep the "fun to drive factor". All in all I would not want my truck any slower its right at the point of very fun to drive and doesn't leave me begging for more. I am happy with the performance, its slower then stock but I think it drives very nice. If I had the better uphill(from a stop) perforance of an auto tranny I might not have anything to complain about.

i Had a 2.9 prior to my 4.0 swap. The 4.10 gears were not enough till i added the 4.0 Evne then i break someting on a regular bassis. Trans ,axle darn 7.5
3.55 being stronger then 4.10 mabe but i rarely hear of ring and pinyon failures that were not maintenance issues usualy axles ujoint or something else go first.

well being a student and all i think for now im gonna go with the spindles and 33"s. ill do the 35"s later on down the road. what gears would be the best for the 3.0 and an auto tranny coming from 3.73 with 30" tires?

I'd go ahead and put 4.56's on now if you intend to go to 35's later. You won't want to regear twice -- it's too much of a pain in the butt!!!

Since you have an auto, you can live with the 3.73's and 33's for now -- but your power will feel down.
