i'm not trying to be a smart *** but anytime you use jacks/jackstands on any vechile someone with enough muscle can push it off the jacks, if you use 2 jack on the front it's only gonna go to the left or right, but with 4jack stands it's goin to the left/right or front/back useing 2 jacks isnt harmful in any way as long as the drive line tires are on the ground, cranking t bars is like a 2 on a scale from 1-10 to do you really only need 2 jacks and the right tools to do but if you don't feel safe enough like that then do it your way

You think we're all a bunch of aholes but seriously, look at this thread from page 1. Your question was answered, yet you argued with us non stop.

ok im just gonna throw this out there....if u put ur rear jackstands on the axle, the rear suspension is still gonna be able to move...so basicaly ur just moving your support base in further (making it less stable) and ur raising the center of gravity (because it has to be higher to get the tires of the ground) so in reality your actually making it more dangerous by putting the rear on jack stands...lol...and ur gonna feel stupid when u spend 10 mins jacking up each side of the truck and putting jack stands under it and then going back and re-jacking it up one end at a time to take the jack stands out.....and it only takes you 2 mins to crank ur bars.....honestly if u go to a parking lot and go through that whole ordeal and people see u jack up each end and then support each with jack stands and then u lay under ur truck for 2 mins and then get out and start letting it down again they are gonna be like WTF is this guy doing....lol

That's a lot of words but its exactly right. Literally the two rear tires "are jack stands". They are as low of center of gravity you can get, unless you removed your two rear tires and sat the drums on the ground.

before I even get started on my ****-rant.. You don't have to jack it up. And an Impact makes real quick work of it. Take a few grammar lessons man, I'm not perfect but reading your writing is pretty painful.

The answer to this problem is simple.. attach a winch, find a big healthy tree and winch the front end off the ground.. Mine hung here for probably 6-8 hours.
-Had to call around, find parts, find tools to borrow, reserve a trailer..
-I had to drive 3-4 hours to get tools, parts and a trailer. then get back out there.
-Replaced the ball joints
-Put the knuckle back on
-Put the tie rod back on
-Put the tire on then backed the trailer slightly under it.

Your dad would **** BRICKS

So if you guys are just gunna be *******s about this then dont right on the fukin thread.
If you've seen Mechanics do plenty of half-*** jobs then you should know they're just fine.. I've lifteed hundreds of cars on lifts. ALL OF THEM SHAKE.. Ever seen a 1 ton on a lift? how about a 1 ton dually? Thats some scary ****, Rangers are a joke.. Your dad would have a heart attack if he'd seen what I did a few times.

2 jack stands and 2 tires is FAR MORE STABLE than 4 jack stands.. Its harder to push a truck off 2 stands with the parking brake on AND chocked tires than it would be to push it off 4 stands.

Been there, done that. scary **** but not the end of the world.

For what it's worth, you can pretty much turn those bolts without actually being under the truck if you extend your arms. Anywho...

ok so ur gonna jack it all the way up and put the stands on the frame which means the rear suspension is gonna be at full drop.....so ur center of gravity is gonna be substantially higher....plus its gonna be a lot higher in hte back than the front so its gonna want to slide forward and off the jackstands and since its metal on metal there isnt a lot of friction so it could easily slide forward off the stands.....i would feel WAY less safe under that than one with the rear tires firmly panted...lol
