Rear Suspension Dilemma

I was planning on grabbing some Sport Trac leaf spring and getting rid of the factory block to get about 1.5-2 lift in the rear of my truck. After making countless phone calls, i discovered that are no ST springs to be had near me...

This had me thinking... Could i use Expo leaves and Chevy drop shackles while losing the stock block and still get about 2 of rear lift?

Seems like i might just have to do an AAL and Shackles while keeping the block to achieve what i want.

I could get leaves from other Rangers at work to weave into my leaf pack, would that be as good as the Procomp AAL?

I think all Expo leafs will gain you 2" of lift. Take out your block, you gonna be a -.5" lift. Add shackle, you going to be at 1" of lift.

Using an AAL and a shackle, you'll gain approx 3" of lift. Take out your block, and you'll be at 1/2" of lift. AAL, shackle, and stock block is my rear set up to match my 4" superlift.

I'm not that knowledgable on the expo leaves. I know there's several threads talking about expo leaves, but i've never actually paid much attention to them. So don't take my word for it when it comes to expo leafpacks.

I think you are right, Expo Springs give 2 in of lift over Ranger, just what i want. There are several places i can get the Expos around here. I'll get the Expos and make it work somehow.

Why do you want to take the block out?

Would help axle wrap, not that big of a problem, but if you are modding it anyway, why not?

The block can fold during articulation and, help with that axle hop when you pinion angle isnt correct.

But, Expo leave will lift the ranger about 1.5, and a chevy drop shackel and there ya go. The spring rate is less so they will wear out faster and sag if you use your truck for hualing, or if the Expo had miles on it. So try and find a low miled Expo.

I thought Expo leaves were rated higher than Ranger leaves?

I dont beleive so...I may be wrong, But I'm pretty sure the ranger had a higher sring rate and we needed to find a low miled explorer, To relieve spring sag.
