66-77 Bronco Axel Swap?

Ok here's what im going to try. I want to upgrade my axels on on my 87 ranger because i have done a complete efi 302/c4 swap and i want the axels to be able to hold the power.
I can get a 69 bronco real cheap and i want to take the 9" out of the rear as well as the transfer case, then buy a dana 44 seperate.
Is there anyone that has done this swap from the older 66-77 bronco's ?
If you have please post i need as much info as possible to see how hard or easy
this swap is going to be.

Thanks

you want to find a 71-77 bronco man. It is a very easy install and both axles go on easily. The dana 44 in the front is nearly perfect width too.

69 rear axle will work, it has a dana 30 in front tho.

Thanks I no that the 69 has the 30 in the front. What i was going to do for the front is trade the rest of the truck for a 77 dana 44 that has the disk brakes.

are you sure it has a dana30 in the front Aaron? I was under the impression some had a 44 but with Drumb brakes in the front. maybe not.

but in 75 wasnt the bronco widened?

67-70 = 30 with drums i think
71-75(maybe 76) = 44 with drums
either 77 alone or 76 and 77 = d44 with disc brakes.

Then 78 became the wider axle.

I've never heard of an EB having a d30. Only axle I know of that early is a drum brake 44.

The stout Dana 44 became the standard Bronco front axle early in the 1971 production year, replacing the weaker Dana 30
the eskimo was right =-o
