99 2WD Coil Upper Balljoint/Arm Questions
I've searched and read numerous threads for replacing my upper ball joints. I got greasable uppers from NAPA, but measuring their OD with calipers and comparing that to the ones on the truck, I believe my uppers are the one piece design that you need to replace the whole arm. There was a .015" difference in diameter.
What other options are there aside from replacing with a dealer sourced assembly? Will the OEM arms with replaceable ball joints fit my truck? If so, what would the part numbers be for those? I can't see any sense in putting another set of arms on that I can't replace ball jonts in later on.
I've read about Moog Problem Solvers ball joints but can't locate them. Does Moog make a ball jont to specifically fit the "non-repairable" arms I have now?

They appear as though they were pressed in. I have never seen pics of the two kinds side by side. I tried pressing the upper out with a Snap On ball joint press and all I acheived was distorting the top of the ball jont and creating a lot of slop in it to where it isn't safe to drive on now. They didn't budge. The difference in diameter has me concerned as well. Since the ball joint is already ruined, I think I need to remove the arm completely and try to remove them with a large press. Got any info/part numbers on the Problem Solvers?

I have to replace mine (all 4) and have not had time to get to them yet. I have never done ball joints and are fairly certain the lower ones press out towards the ground and the uppers seem to look as they are pressed out upwards?? www.Rockauto.com has the MOOG balljoints and replacement arms. I have a 99 xlt and everywhere I look Napa, Discount, Autozone and Rockauto they say the upper are replaceable. Let me know how to get them out like I said I haven't had time but I need to get to it soon. Thanks
