well i dont know alot about lift kits but people i talk to down here in elko nevada says there awesome but my ranger completely stock that i know off and i want a lift for it but my main question is can i still tow and is there a lift that u dont have to modify your truck a lot just put it on and go and i dont want a cheap lift either i would like to spend really 300 or less thanks

Since you have 4WD a suspension lift will run about 1200 and up i think. But alot of ppl with 4WD do a body lift and that is only about 200 bucks and they dont look to bad and they allow you to run a bigger tire.

 

yeah only way to spend around 300 bucks is to do a body lift..they look good as long as you dont lift it to high in my opinon

 

Yeah the largest body lift you can get is 3inches. Do a search and you will find lots of threads and pictures of bodylifts.

 

ya i have but i want to do a body lift that doesnt allow alot of modifying to your truck that what i want ive seen lifts that you have to raise ur bumper and stuff like that then they cant tow and i want to tow i just want a good one that less then 300 and puts on easy thks

 

Whoa, crazy man. I am from Elko Nevada, Small world. A body lift that looks good will not involve being able to tow. Keep in mind, You could make it to where u could still tow with a body lift on, but it will not look the best. Oh...and puncuation is your friend...

replied to your PM, you can always leave the bumper at stock height and get something to fill the gap if you still want to tow...other than that just keep your eye out for some good deals on suspension lifts...

 

sidk where you got you cant tow... if your even thinking of towing you shouldnt use the bumper to begin with...

 

good point. get a real hitch dude. im about to do a body lift and i have no worries about my bumper because its only on there for looks. i dont tow with it...

you can get about a $200 body lift, then get about a $100 hitch and your set.

 

Yeah I was gonna say. You can tow with any sort of lift. Just get a hitch mount and drop hitch. I've got a 3" Body Lift and 33"s and I tow stuff all the time. I've never raised the rear bumper either. Raising the front bumper is easy, the rear is a bit more work. But if you don't like the gap you can always just get a piece of diamond plate and put it over. That looked decent on mine when I had it on there.

But if you want a good body lift, I got my Performance Accesories one for $150ish shipped to my door. Never really heard anything bad about Performance Accesories. Took me 5 hours to install and it's good to go now. Like I said the rear bumper and hitch mount are still in the stock location, but there is a gap now.

Can I ask why you are looking into lifting it? If it's for off-roading purposes a body lift by itself won't really do you any good. You should probably at least look into getting bigger/Mud Terrain tires as well. But that's my personal opinion.

 

Dude haha its not smart to tow with your bumper anyways, just get a hitch. Unless you do a body lift your not going to find a lift for under 300 bucks that goes on easy.

 

ya im going to get bigger tires on it after my 30x9.50sx15r are toast for my tires what do u think i could fit could someone get me some pics of some trucks that dont have a body just bigger tires that dont rub or come clost though thanks guys for ur comments

 

Max your bars, get some 265's, enjoy....

 

what happens when i max my bars is it hard to and how much clearence does it give me does it give it all the way throught the truck or just the front get the clearence from the bars

 

depending on the wear/condition and the model of the bars you can get 1" to 2 1/2"

it'll only lift the front. if your rear is starting to sag, invest in some add-a-leafs

$40 for the AAL's, ten minutes(free, just labor) to crank your bars and your truck is ready for some 265's. you can fit 285's snuggly but 265's are just right and have a nice look as far as fender clearance goes.

if your bars are shot/don't get much lift out of em, step up to the #1 t-bars. it's a maintenance item anyhow, just upgrading a bit. i think they're only $70 a piece.

 

ok and how long if i got the aals would they take to put on

 

One hour per side if you're not well aquainted with working on your truck. It's not hard at all. I could prolly do it in 20 min per side. An extra set of hands would be helpful too.

The front is simple. Socket wrench, socket, couple turns on a bolt on each side(there's more to that), and i slapped on some loctite cuz I'm paranoid.

 

thanks and by doing the aal and the t-bars cranked how many inches do you think you gain by doing this and if i just do the t-bars do u think it will sag in the back

 

it will level out the truck. it won't do a thing to the rear.

adding aal's will bring back the factory rake.

 

Ummm don't max out your t-bars. It is bad on the truck. Just turn them about 4 - 6 turns. I did it and gained about an inch.

Install your BL and install some 33s.

 

33's will fit with a bodylift. I was able to squeeze 33's by cranking the bars out and buying some 2" lift blocks to stack ontop of the factory, but I dont recommend that, mine are about to come off. Im actually thinking about just getting some new leafs and taking all the blocks out. you could also do the torsion keys, but others will have to give more opinions on those, im not aware of the bad sides of the keys.
