Pros And Cons of Coilover swap..
Ok guys, so I am trying to justify this mod to my wife, and well myself.. I can get the fox shocks, and eibach 750# 12" springs with free shipping for 514 bones..
So what are the pros and cons of this swap? is it really worth the money? does it take any stress off the suspension at all?

The ride is just soooo incredible. I mean...it really is. After driving two coil-overed double lifted rangers and then driving mine....makes mine ride like crap. And right now, mine rides better than it ever did when it was stock. And remember....I'm set up just like you up front right now too...so you can totally trust me. PLUS, you get rid of those unsightly, constantly sagging torsion bars and their drop brackets. To me...just that alone is worth it since I usually get hung up by them torsion drops.

mudslanger said that when i first installed his, that his truck rubbed because it sat lower than the rear.. He had to 'crank' the coils.. how do you do this? and 750# coils are good right? or should i go with 800?
EDIT:
Also, whats up with the bars that are on the RCD kit? anyone have a cure for this, or are they not really needed? I know some people say they are some say they arnt?

Chris was just Superlifted running 35's when he did his swap. Remember that... "Crank" meaning moving the adjustment nuts..alot like a torsion bar bolt, but not really kinda. If that makes sense. lol.
IMO, No 'bars' are needed. Superlift is only dropped about 3.50" and people claim the torsion bars keep the drops from flopping around, which is absolutely false. Torsion bars just sorta 'float' in the lower control arm...they really have no structural anything other than acting as a spring.
Thanks Jake. I've not had the bar on since the Superlift install, so about 1.5 years for me now.

ok, so even with moderate - heavy off roading, the bars are not needed? See heres the thing shane.. We find out where we are pcs'ing to here any day, and its probably going to be somewhere at a missle base, ie, south dakota, wyoming, montana, etc.. so lots of offroading.. So i want to make sure the truck is up for it

The best analogy I can come up with is that Torsion Bars are to Suspension as the 3.0 is to Engines.
They aren't pretty.
They aren't going to beat anything in competition for ride, safety, modding ability, etc.
They do however, work for extended periods of time.
With a coilover setup, it's exactly like Shane said. Your drastically increasing the ability of your Suspension. Coilovers are just better engineering.
