hey i cant decide on what to put on my 2001 ranger. cold air intake, borla or magnaflow muffler, of a 3 inch lift but i already got decent size tires. theproblem is i dont have much money so i gotta save up. any ideas on what i should do. thanks

 

dont know if it matters to you, but if you're trying to impress others, a lifted truck is a lot more obvious than a truck with a few small mos to make it quicker.

 

Lift! You'll notice that far more than you will ever notice the minor HP mods

 

lift it, thats alot more noticeable to others

 

I say lift it also. Putting a cold air intake and a little exhaust work isnt going to do much to it.

Look into a Bamachips Tuner, JBA Headers, Exhaust, Screamin' Demon Coil, Plugs, Wires, Supercharger (if you have a 4.0), Throttlebody spacer, etc.

Believe me, you will like having more power and better gas mileage, and after a couple years, you won't regret doing the power mods, I wish I had!!!

 

eh lift it and and put a dumped exhaust and get an intake a little later.

2001 4x4 v6 4.0 litter super cab but not xlt and i dont have tons of money

 

well if you dont have tons of money, then lifting it isnt the right choice that is if you offroad. things break and you need money to fix them. but if your just for show then i say lift it.

 

only way to get a good lift for a 4x4 is drop a minimum of $1300-$1400, then the next one is $2500, then there's tires, wheels and gears.. unless you want a body lift then you still may need tires

if you dont have $$ then i would say performance...

If you're looking to spend less than $500, some performance mods might work out better for your wallet. Start with an underdrive pulley and exhaust. If you plan on doing some off-roading, then the body lift would work out as well.

Unfortunately, most mods ain't cheap!

what about an exaust system or muffler that will give me a deep sound with some performance in it too. i want something that growls but not like a high pitched trumpit, any suggestions (borla, magnaflow etc

If you don't have much money, most mods are out of reach. you can do a few performance things for cheap, but these guys are all right, if you want to off road, it costs a lot of money, lifts, tires, wheels, gears and thats only if you don't break anything, which will happen eventually if off-roading. I have a borla cat back system on my truck and is sounds great. Doesn't have the high pitched sound. The price though, I don't know. I know a guy that knows a guy kinda thing, so mine was dirt cheap. just remember, when you do the body lift, then you gotta go buy new bigger tires, and then you will get less performance and less MPG....

 

remember your driving a ranger. unless you have 5 - 10k to dump into the engine and tranny its still gunan be slow.

Get a BL for $250 from summit and be happy.
