I have a pocket full of money, and have been wanting to get the Ranger bagged for awhile. I've tried searching sites and such, but couldn't find what I need to know.

How much does it normally run? Has anyone on here done it themself, if so, how hard was it? What about clearance.. I have a nice set of stock wheels and tires if needed, but I'd like to keep my better ones on for now.

I have the stepside bed, with 15x8 American Racing wheels. 245/50/R15 tires. What all, if anything would I have to do with the wheels and tires to get it to lay down without hitting anything? (I don't want to put out money on wheels and tires just yet.)

It has a 2" - 3" drop, and everytime I look at it. I see it slammed on the ground in my head. I want to see that in person! I've never messed with susp. before, anyone care to put their two cents in?

If at all possible, anyone living in Indiana (or close) that'd come out and help me throw the set up on it, if I'd buy it?

 

Wow.. Guess I'll have to just find out when I take it to the shop, what I have to do..

In pocket, none.. haha, just blew it on blue neons. But I could get about 1,200 within a few days. (Someone wants to buy my spare car.)

 

Well ull prolly spend that alone on components i.e 4-link,bags,air lines,compressor,valves,notch,shocks,tanks,and anything else I forgot. Check this site out ive heard a lot of good things from this guy www.suicidedoors.com a few of the Edges that are bagged got their stuff from there.

 

I figured I would. That's why I was starting to think about bagging the front first, or back. Then waiting and doing the opposite end. On the 22nd of this month, I'll have aroudn 3,500 to put in it. Or I could wait until Christmas and try and talk my parents into paying half (or more, haha) of it.

 

I remember when one of the Edge owners on GE (Ryan) began his bagging he just went ahead and bagged the rear 1st. This would be ur best bet also that way u can knock out the major part of the process with the 4-link,notch,and the air management system. Speaking of that for ur setup are you going with a 2-way(FB) or 4-way(FBSS) and for the rear do u plan on havin whoever does it for u cut the bed for axle clearance?

 

Probably go ahead and with with the 4-way, more fun once it's finished. Heh. And as sad as I'll be to see a chunk of the bed get trashed, with that beautiful blue paint.. yes. It'll be cut.

 

You will spend atleast $1,200 in parts. If you don't know how to weld, or have never done any suspension work, don't try and do it yourself. If you are going to bag just one end, do the front first. As for the wheels, those should be fine, so long as you pull the inerior fenders out.

 

I can weld, but have never done suspension work myself. That's why I was hoping there was someone close to me that would help, but I guess I'm not that lucky, heh. I should move to Texas so I could be the annoying quite one that watches, that way I could learn to do more.

Is it better to do the front first? Or the rear (consider more has to be done to it) and get it out of the way?

 

It's really up to u what u wanna do 1st there is no benefit to doing the front 1st or the rear 1st just whatever u feel like. Ive always believed in gettin the hardest out of the way 1st so if it was me I'd go ahead and do the rear since thats where the most work must be done. The front is pretty much welding in the bag cups, bolting the bag up, and hooking up the airline not that hard.

 

I would do the front first. If you have never done this stuff before, I would pay some one to do it for you. Suicide Doors is in Francisco, IN, not sure how far away from you that is. If it is close, call them and ask to talk to Ricky. He use to live here and is a buddy of mine. Ask him if he has anytime, or would recommend anyone to bag your truck. That is were I would buy all the parts from as well, since they have the best prices, and are close to you. I pulled the mapquest, and it looks like they are about 200 miles south of you. Still talk to Ricky and see if he can recomend anyone to you.

 

Tomorrow the truck goes in for neons, and before I take it in I'll call Ricky and see what he says. It'd be nice to buy everything there, then drive it up there and have him do it. If he had the time, of course. Understandable if he didn't. (Hopefully he would, it'd be nice.) Front seems like it'd be the best, considering I'm 16. Looking for a job. And spending what money I have on the truck, heh. Seems it'd be cheaper to go with it first.

Yeah, my cousin works there so I got a discount, and he's going to install them for free, while I go get new tires for his Explorer. (He's paying for them, but didn't have the time to do it because of working.) He said he needs them bad, but wouldn't be able to get them until next Saturday. So he's doing me a favor, while I do him one.

 

If you bag it, those neons are gonna have to go.

 

Ive seen a bagged and bodydropped ranger sporting neons u dont have to take em off once u get all that done, but i do agree u should just forget the neons just save that money and put it with the rest u plan on spending for the bag job that way u have alittle extra incase anything goes wrong.

 

I've saw a few bagged trucks around with neons. Except every single one around here has green. Then there's a chick with a black Ranger with purple. I rarely see that truck, I wish I could get a picture of it.

 

Once the bags are completed do u plan on gettin rims? If so how big cuz I think if u go above 18's then u gotta relocate engine components and get the fenders in the bed cut so the truck will lay out even.

 

After awhile, yeah. It'll take a bit to save up after it. I had 18's on my old car that I wrecked, didn't have very good luck with them. They had 235/45's on them, and I crushed two of the wheels because of Indiana roads. So I think I'm going to TRY and do 16 or 17's on it, with thicker tires. Nothing to fancy, this is going to be my daily driver, haha.

 

drop the neons, put them in your truck, but save it up money that is, so you can pay if anything does go wrong, you should have a custom's place if you have never done suspension work. I'm thinking of putting on a 5/6 drop on my truck, Im not sure if that is even safe to drive with..

 

 

Its safe to drive arounhd with a 5/6 drop if it wasnt no one would make the parts to be that low.
