I have this problem...

Only instead of a slit it put a dent the size of a quarter in my bed.. I had just replaced the other side which was hanging and I guess it's time for this side too.

When you had the bed off you should have done both. Also if it was me I would get about 4-5 cans of rubberized spray and coat your frame. It will help with the rust.

I had someone do it for me. You have to drill out the rivets that hold it on. I would have but I don't even own a drill..
