The 63" Chevy spring swap has been done successfully on many years of Rangers. Zach and I have it on our 2003's. Here's a link
to the same conversion on a 93 Ranger.
The Chevy springs are longer, so you must relocate the forward spring hanger 6" and redrill the frame. The earlier trucks have a differently shaped hanger bracket but the procedure is similar.
