Bent shock housing.

Today, i accidently bent the housing to one of my front shocks. Not too bad, but enough that I am worried it might be ruined.

It still works like the other, just has a half dollar size dent on the side. Will this ruin it more quickly? It is bent close to the bottom where it connects to the Lower Control Arm.

Brad, if it's ruined not worry about it the new dropped control arms your planning on buying to lower ur truck more come with their own shock mounting points on the control arm itself so once you replace the old arm with that one that will fix that small problem.

Also, if it's a twin tube shock (which I suspect it is?) then you only dented the outer tube. That slighty reduces the fluid capacity, but since there's gas in there, it doesn't matter.

If you bend it enough to affect the inner tube (where the piston lives), then you'll have trouble.

Monotube shocks generally fail when dented.

It is a 4" Toxic Drop Shock for the front. I ran the piston all the way down and it didnt hit the dent, so I think it is ok for now. I will be replacing in a couple of months, but for now, it works fine.

I will post new pics of my truck once i get the roll pan, which is the last piece to go in (I think it will be ready tomorrow) and i am done with the truck. I LOVE the 4/5 and i love how it handles. Perfect for me.

Thanks for all of the help.
