so i told my friends i want to lift my truck, and they say i shouldn't go fabtech on much if i can get away with it. They say it isn't that great.
they say go king suspension and do it once and do it right.

I know i dont have coils on my truck, i have torsion bars, which i think means I'd have to do custom suspension all around or atleast in the front.

what do you guys say?

You could do anything from fabtech spindles (not all that bad, and i'm actually selling mine right now) all the way to long travel

and yeah i looked up king stuff and thats all they sell, i mean i saw my frineds sporttrac that he did all around king coilovers but it cost him like 5k at least.

what i want to do is not too tough of offroading, like not desert or anything, yet...

but i would like to have a bit more clearence and bigger tires

i think tires will come first though, then a spindle and add-a-leaf.

 

body lift and tires! It fits your goals perfectly! And is the best money saving option!

I'd stay away from the body lift unless you really like looking at your frame.

pretty much you will find that most people who use king have almost all fiberglass bodypanels, no glass, no ac, gps and all susupension. haha

you could just get the camburg kit, and have more than enough strength, its fairly cheap, and a good company to deal with.

I bought kings and was ready to put them on the front and rear of the truck before plans changed.

I had ac, full glass, front and rear glass fenders,the rest of the body panels were stock

sorry duders. Yea...fabtech is fine...just don't jump it too many times. 3 wheelin' isn't fun. Here's a pic of GatorBlue92's truck. It has 3.5" fabtech spindles, a rear Add-A-Leaf(AAL), chevy shackles to level it out. Also has 33x12.50 BFG's....just to show what a 2wd EDGE looks lifted.

Alon is just trying to sell his **** on ya. A body lift is perfect for ya (unless he matches the price of the body lift, which knowing him, he wont). Nobody has ever commented to me that they can see my frame nor have I ever noticed it when I walk up to my vehicle. It only costs 160 bucks for the body lift, isn't too hard to install(the spindles are easier I'd bet?) and is a great start.

 

He's saying rich (or people who are waste money on **** they dont need) people use KING suspension,

 

I'm not a big fan of body lifts. I'd go with the spindles.

 

Body lifts are great for a little more tire space if you don't plan on wheeling hardcore. suspension lifts are really for travel.

 

I'm not too keen on seperating the body from the frame an extra 3". Those Michigan guys love body lifts and they seem to abuse them sometimes with no ill effects. There is nothing wrong with running a body lift. It's just my opinion.

 

Ya I'm trying to sell him my spindles... He's looking for a lift and I'm looking to get rid of mine... come on.

And as far as price matching a body lift? You are comparing two different things here, and you don't know me, so I really don't need to hear your crap about my pricing.

 

When you can pick up spindles for $250 why would you wanna get the body lift? If he was 4x4 i could understand because the suspension lifts cost so much more.....

 

I'll reply more later, but I have King bypasses, coilovers, and bumps all around. I assure you Aaron, everything on my truck right down to the Icom and the helmet is NEEDED. A lot of people have that mentality, try to build a "bajah prerunner," then realize only after rolling or breaking that this "rich" person stuff is needed. Expensive, yes, but worth it. Build it right the first time and you will save a ton of money, time, and grief.

I'd stay away from body lifts, I've seen too many crack, fall out, cause cabs to loosen, etc. Not worth the risk in my opinion.

Fabtech is okay for street queens, but don't plan on using it much, it will only get you in trouble (I rolled my first truck because I thought Fabtech was the shiz, so yeah I can speak from experience what is needed or not). From the sound of it a simple spindle lift would fit your needs okay, but if you want to actually get out there and use the truck (comfortably) look into something else. It gets expensive, but it's worth it.

Suspension lifts like Fabtech and Procomp give NO more travel than stock.

Camburg/HnM/Weldtec/BTF/etc. kits will . . .

If Fabtech costs the same as a body lift, that's the better way obviously. But us northeast guys push body lifts and you guys push spindle lifts.
