8.8, djm, and 18x9/18x10.

im lost. i searched for a while and basically could only find stock heighted rangers or 2/3 dropped rangers with 18x9's. i have a 87 tc in my garage im using as a donor for my 97 2wd xlt. im swapping a expo 8.8 with it also. i want to get some 18x9 fronts and 18x10 rears, they come in a set that way but i emailed the guy and am seeing if he can sell me 4 18x9's. i'd even go 17x9 if i had to. what needs done with the djm 3/4 and flip shackle and maybe hack a spring so im real low. like 4/5 at least. what will be the affects of the 8.8 and the djm kit? can i clear 18x9's all the way around being that low and what size tire will work well? i have a brand new set of 235/50/18 but i think they may be too tall. would i be better off going with 17x9? thanks for any assistance in pointing me in the right direction.

First of all.. What year is the truck? This will determine what you need to get low.

Second... A 235 series tire should go on a 7" rim NOT a 9" rim.

97 xlt can youse readz?

drop beams 3" and drop springs 2" could also get splash springs from a jy for a 1" drop up front will net you 4-5" drop to match the 5-5.5" of the expo swap.

235 is more then adequate on a 9", thats not even stretch territory.

mm so just drop beams from djm and springs from whoever and front will be a 4 or 5" drop and with the 8.8 my rear will be 5" lower so don't need anything for that? and tires should fit well on 9"? what about tires rubbing front and rear, will I have clearance issues being that low?

This will depend on offset off the wheel...

ok got a few more things established. i can order (4) 18x9'' wheels, the seller said he can do that. i'd prefer to keep 18's over 17's because the 17's do not have a lip. im not too concerned about the tires. they'll fit a 9" wide wheel but i guess it's pushing it. i might sell them i might keep them not sure yet. im mainly concerned about rubbing and fitment issues. anyone know what kind of spacers ill have to run with a 18x9 wheel and a 24 offset with an 8.8 and stock up front just lowered about 4/5. should i get some new shocks since ill be ripping all that **** apart anyway? shocks aren't too expensive and if it'd help ride comfort/handling it's probably worth it. my truck has 90k from an old *** man on it and about 5k of getting the **** beat out of it by me. i plan on getting 3" dream beams and a set of springs.
