Put BL on or stay with SL?
Hey guys, well heres my dilema.... as most of you know, my dad is putting the sl on my truck (going quite well i might add).. And installing the 35's. well he asked me if i want him to put the bl also.. at first i was like, um yes... thats why i got it..
Well after reading many reviews and listening to horror stories, i am a little split on whether or not to put the bl on.. I know that the 35's are STUFFED even with the 4" sl.
My thing is i dont want the fender gap,and i want to keep my front tow hooks..and i have heard that the 3" BL makes our trucks REALLY top heavy and the truck actually handles better offroad without it..
So.. heres a question.. Could i just trim the fenders, put of some bushwaker cutout fender flares(not sure which ones, so help me out on this one), and have enough clearance for the 35's?
Once I wear out the 35's, i am most likely going to get 33's.
EDIT: added pic of the 35's with the rear sl on.. NOTE: shocks ARE NOT installed yet, just blocks, i dont know if the shocks will add any more height or not, im pretty sure they wont..

eh do it
how hard are you on your truck?
i need to fix or take mine off but i've jumped it a few times and done numerous stupid things.. its still there, a few things are un aligned but w/e
you can keep the tow hooks you may need to trim the valence or do something custom to mount them though.
the majority of the weight is still down low but it will raise the CG some.
its a day project, a day and a half tops. so if you dont like it you didnt really lose any time and im sure you can resell it for near what you paid

I am taking off my body lift as soon as I find a good time to do it and rearrange some other stuff to fit without the BL. Ive had a few minor problems. for a street only turck, I wouldnt worry about the BL, for a truck that gets offroad plenty, no thanks, not if you can help it.
might I add, you should fit 35s fine without it, nothing a little trimming wouldnt fix even if for some reason you did have some trouble...

I have a body lift, I have had it for something like 3-4 years...

it may be something wrong with installation.. but its probably just how the trucks used that creates more problems

Downey - poll is up..
Everyone else - thanks for the info/advice/oppinions.. keep it coming.. The biggest thing making me not want to do it is the fender gap... This truck is going to be wheeled.. Probably nothing like extreme rock crawling, but it will see lots of mud and trails..
How do i fix the fender gap?
Note - just incase you didnt read it or missed it, the truck does already has a 4" SL on it..

I don't want to turn the thread into BL vs SL.
A BL only lifts the body leaving everything else low and CG realitivly low. Suspension lift raises everything and CG much more than a BL. Suspension lift does change how it drives down the road, body lift is barely noticible. I have ran my truck with just a BL, just a SL, and both. If you offroad hard enough to cause a problem for the bodylift, your truck will be a garbage heap anyways and fender gap shouldn't be an issue. Bill totalled his his truck at speed rolling it several times over and it did not budge the body lift.

You will not have enough clearance to tuck 35s off road if you keep just the SL. I just sold my old 35s to a member on RPS with just a SL and it is a very tight fit.
If you want good looks spend the money and buy gap guards that are for a ranger.

With those you won't be able to tell it has a BL on.
