Using Larger Coils for Lift

Ive been looking around for a Ranger and ive noticed that alot of them have the rear higher for obvous reasons and was wondering if adding larger coills to the front of the truck would have any cons like a rougher ride or something along those lines. Any one ever do something like this, cuz i plan on either going to a junkyard and getting some f150 coils or just buying some larger ones from an auto store

i just looking around now and was wondering could i get some 6" or so coils in the front then put the rear leafs ontop of the axel in the back(this is ofcoarse if theyre arent alread like that). would this work aswell, my brothers ranger had the leafs like that and it made some diffrence in height

what year ranger do you have?


because the 4x4s dont have coils in the front they have torsion bars.


also the rear is already on top the axle

lol yea, i was looking today tho

it will be 2wd more then likly unless i can get a good deal on a 4x4

bottom line is, youre not likely to get away with just coils. doing just the coils will top out your vehicles suspension, so you would need something like coils AND upper arms, etc. it all depends on what year you get, but it wont be as easy as just coils. its only that easy with solid front axles.

what about just leveling the truck, will that require upper arms and such?

easiest way is to flip the shackle on the rear to level it out. or if it's an edge you can take out the rear lift blocks to level it out. many ways just gotta go under the rear and look

if you want to level up, and you have coil springs, you MAY be able to use coil spacers, but your upper arm will be close to the frame, and you will lose down downward suspension travel, which will cause the arm to hit the frame and possibly damage the arm and frame, definately wear out your ball joints faster than normal.

on an edge or 4wd, you can crank the torsion bars to level the front. it poses somewhat the same problem as stated above, but not as pronounced. ill put it this way, i had mine cranked, and my wifes tbars are cranked too.
