Hey, driving my 2005 B4000 and the rear leafs are too weak, one is a bit screwy too..

Looking to drop in the ranger 5leaf HD leafpack...

should be a direct fit right?

my older ranger had a 5leaf pack from factory and was awesome.. hauls anything.. the newer one, not so much.

 

Yes and no. Any type of stock leaf spring from a ranger will drop into your B4000 without any issues. However, there are a couple different leaf packs that are used which have a different rating.

Edit: This only applies for 98+ rangers, I think pre 98 was a slightly different leaf width

 

yeah the 3leaf pack is 1100 pound rated and the HD 5leaf pack is 1750 pound rated so im also increasing the Ubolt diameter from 7/16" to 1/2" and ordering new ones that are 1.5" longer, altho the leaf pack is only 5/8" thicker. Width is the same.

it was more length i was worried about but i know they use the same box and such...

i need the extra weight capacity... with these leafs and my 10ply tires i'm pretty good but i might also add a lift via a "add a leaf" kit which also adds 500 to 800 pounds of capacity in the future.. and i dont want to do that on old factory leafs if i can just swap out with new.

using all new bolts and bushings as well...

 

Another thing to keep in mind is that you can swap in explorer leafs to your truck. You do have to switch the spring perches, but it is a very simple welding job that any good welding shop could do if you can't weld.

 

You don't need to do any welding to just add Explorer leafs. You need to remove the center pin and turn it upside down. You would need to weld on new perches if you swapped in an explorer axle as a whole.

I removed my stock blocks (mine were 2.5") and got a set of explofer leafs (K rating?).. or whatever the strongest rated ones were and put those in. I lost about 1/2"-1" in the rear height-wise, which leveled out the truck, and it got rid of some axle wrap and added a little more load capacity than my stock ranger springs. If you don't want to lose any height you can do belltech 6400 shackles and explorer leafs once you remove the stock blocks and that should put you right around even.

 

Also.. you can look into getting helper springs/shocks for the rear to help you with load carrying capacity. It's kind of like a coil-over for the rear.
