Lift with warranty...

Well after searching, i couldnt find an answer to this question on here.
I like my 09 Sport a ton. The ONLY gripes i have with it is that i need my windows tinted (easy enough), im not racking the miles quick enough (patience for the break in period.....) and the rake. The rake on this truck seems more pronounced than on my previous XLT.

Now, id LOVE to level it out. BUT, i dont want to kill my warranty either. Does anyone know of a way i can do a minor lift, without affecting my warranty? Should i check and see if the dealer offers anything that i can put on there, but not worry about crapping out torsion bars or ball joints down the line at my expense?

Im seriously considering a 3" spindle lift for the front to even it out and maybe something for the back if i need it. I dont want to worry about getting denied for a claim if a tie rod end or a ball joint starts clacking. I dont plan on any real off road use, its just that the big rake bothers me a touch.

Oh, and the torsion bar crank might be out.... This thing rides smoother than my coil sprung XLT did, even with B bars.

lower the rear an inch or so. easier and cheaper if you dont plan on any offroad use.

contact the dealership , see what they offer in the way of leveling kits or whatever. probably the only trade off will be that they have to install it to keep your warranty

Yeah, i thought of that but i think the wheels and tires will look too stuffed (yeah even stock) if i do that. Over time itll sag a little anyway... making it worse. The truck has less than 500 miles still lol

Yeah i figured that might be what happens. I might just have to suck it up and do it that way though. I can live with that if it comes to it though. Just not looking at spending $1000 on a mild little lift (if they even offer it of course). ouch.

crank the t-bars a little bit. most dealership mechanics (especially where i work) wouldnt even notice. my dealership will not void the warranty if it is lifted, my superduty with 9" and 38's was in for warranty work under my ownership, the only thing they wont warranty is suspension parts

Spindle lift and AAL or shackle so it will sit level. They only way it will void the warranty is if the parts that you install are what caused the the problem you are trying to claim under the warranty.

how many miles you have?

Once you get past 10-15k I really don't think there will be any "warranty" type failers after that.

less than 500 miles lol.

My starter and tie rod on my last Ranger went bad at around 28K miles and 35K miles so IF theres a warranty issue on these trucks, im guessing its tie rods or ball joints. Both of which can be denied if i modify the suspension. :(

I have an 08 with 20,200 miles. I did the lift after the break in period. When I bought it, the dealership said they could find out about installing a lift and warranty it all, but they never got back with me. Besides, it probably would be well over $1000 from the dealership and I paid half that and did myself (with my brother). I've heard the bigger tires affect the warranty more than the lift itself. I think my whole drivetrain warranty is gone now anyways because I did a gear ratio change. I'm hoping I don't have any issues though. My old lifted 96 2.3l had 120K+ miles on it when I got rid of it with no problems except replacing the clutch right before I sold it.

Dealerships don't lift trucks.... they may have some options for leveling it. I put my BL on at 18,500 and had it in the dealership the next week. They *****ed and moaned and pretty much won't honor the warranty anymore. Lucky for them I know Shane broke the truck so I'm not pushing the issue... Dealerships don't like to give away service/parts so if they can find a reason it's not warranty they will. Bottom line is you're probably not gonna be able to lift it but they may have options on leveling it. You'll probably pay a little more going through them but if you're concerned about the warranty then it's probably worth it to you. After a year and a half my truck has had only minor warranty issues (if you ignore my squealing brakes) so I don't really give a crap anymore.

There are a couple of dealerships right down the street by my work that have several brand new full sizes that are lifted. There is certinally more than a leveling kit when you see a Super Duty with 40's and 22's. I think its like anything. If you are a good customer and a genuine nice guy to the guys in the service department, they are going to help you out alot more, and possibly look the other way. Trust me I work at a Yamaha dealership. If a guy is a dick when he comes in, I am not going to go out of my way and try and help him.

Thats just my 2 cents

When I was getting pricing for my lift no one would touch the truck... dealerships and half of the off-road shops said they wouldn't do it so excuse me....

Nothing is a garuntee. Some dealerships might warranty and other might not, just depends on the day.

Yes dealerships will lift trucks, but you will pay for them doing it. Which wont be cheap but you will keep your warranty.

When i was shopping around for my ranger, one dealership i went to offered to lift it and still keep the warranty. This would inlcude a suspension lift and bigger tires, all of which would be covered under warranty.

My warranty is 60,000 or 3 years on any part on the truck. So if you roll in there at 55,000 they should cover it, aslong as it was abused and beat on.

The warranty on brakes is 17K... the shop saw the truck no less than 3 times before 17K about the brakes, and wouldn't do a thing... so when I rolled in there with 18K they told me to go to hell... like I said... they don't like to do warranty work... I work in a warranty dept. for my company... I know what it is to make a claim... I know that there are ways to make a warranty happen but it takes work and dealerships (sorry Stone... none I've talked to) will not do anything they don't have to.

The Magnussen-Moss warranty act states that for the warranty to be voided for a problem, if aftermarket parts are found on the vehicle, the manufacturer must PROVE that the aftermarket parts were the sole cause to the failure. Basically..if you have a lift kit on your truck and go in for an oil leak..they need to PROVE that your lift kit caused the leak.

They can't just void your "entire" warranty because you have something aftermarket on your truck.

If something would happen to my truck and it was becuase of an aftermarket part...then I would man up and take care of it. Sometimes you gotta "Pay to Play"!

to get them to actually follow the law and not just instantly void it.. usually goes to court

This thread is showing why more and more I do not like "new" vehicles from a dealer. i have no interest to ever buy a new vehicle with a warranty... it also helps i know what i am doing with a vehicle...

I had a very long conversation with one of our shop mechanics about the Magnussen-Moss warranty act... I know that the trucks problem is from Shane, not the truck, so I can't really argue them when they said the warranty was void... but if I have anymore issues they are gonna have fun with me....

I can kinda see the liability thing down there, with the explorer scare and all. But you have to find some better offroad shops down there.

I know its a mute point though, now that you have Shane and all....(jelouse)
