Front End Joints, Bearings, and Alignment Questions

Front End Joints, Bearings, and Alignment Questions
Today I took the Ranger in the shop to get a front end alignment so its to spec again(still off from when I took off the lift). They said they would have it done today.
So this afternoon I get a call from the shop, and they said that "I better come up there, they've got to show me something." Keep in mind that this truck only has 8,500 miles. To make a long story short, the outcome was that I NEED to replace both wheel bearings, and all four ball joints would probally need to be replaced as well(when I've already replaced the lowers)....
Does this sounds right from what others that have had alignments done?
Do the bearings and ball joints rely on each other, where if one is broke it will stress/break the other parts?
And for others who have had to replace these parts aproximetly how much did it cost you?

that would be extremely expensive, i think i would get a second opinion!
unless you messed up those bearings while pulling them from the stock knuckle to the superlift knuckle then back to the stock knuckle.
lowers would only be bad if you tore the boot i would think????
uppers should still be fine, none of that sounds right for alignment at 8500 on the odo.
only thing is maybe some adjusters for the upper control arms!
i would think that would run over 1000 for parts! 250 per hub bearing....

I know that 98-02 the cheapest ive ever seen them are 140 a piece for the bearings. the bearing hub assyble is all onen piece, Im checking to see if can find some for a 03. By the way when mine were going out it made a horrible sqeaking noise. You could really notice driving it.
*EDIT* looks like i may be wrong. . . .
All I can find are bearings to press into it. May b in 03 they changed it so you can replace your bearings for under 200 bucks.

nothing is different as fas as how the CV goes in, the hub goes in the knucle, and how the ABS bolts into the hub.
Bill got his for his 04 at the dealer i think, or from rockauto.com

" 2003 and up is a differnt hub, we do have them available but we don't have them on eBay at this time, We can post one for you or we have them on our website, or you may purchase over the phone. They sell for $294.99 each and is a BCA brand, This is a premium brnad and unfortunatly the part is still so new that the price has not come down yet."
This is a big price difference, from what I think is the same part. I know that the brake diameter changed from 02 to 03 would this have anything to do with the hub assembly?

The hub assembly shouldn't have changed. The brake rotor size changed but that merely means the shape of the steering knuckle changed so the caliper fits the rotor. If you look at the Superlift steering knuckles you can see the difference in how the rotors mount, but the hubs are the same.

UPDATE: I took it to a family friend of mine who is a master mechanic by trade, and it turns out that it was just one of the upper ball joints that needed to be replaced. Glad I got a second oppion, sounds like the first place was just trying to make a quick buck or two. Now I know to never goto that place again.
Thanks for all the help guys
