I haven't been here long enough. But how many "Pre-runner" trails are in the vegas area? i mean there is ann road jump from what i've seen, but much of the stuff i've come across is far too rocky for the average "pre-runner". You'll end up hammering the thing to death at speed.
just my 2cents! I'm sticking with my spindle lift, shackles, buying decent shocks and decent tires for this area. Locker and gears would be the only thing added. There are a bunch of built trucks out here, but it's just kinda silly to really build the crap out of the thing if you are just going to hit trails and never huck the thing WAY in the air and want to hit whups at 70mph! And from what else i've seen, you'll want to invest in a roll cage...not just a bar like i saw you mentioned it, that won't really cut it. Most "prerunners" run at a decent speed, roll bar is decent if you just tip the thing over. You roll a couple times, you'll wish you had a cage!
Anyway, I've had my stock truck about 2ft off the ground on a paved road here lol

Anyways, I've seen the RangeRunner ranger and Jason's truck twice.
Pismo Dunes and Glamis Dunes.
Sick trucks, from what I've heard it's a great system.
Jason, how well does the DBR kit work on 4x4 stuff? I've only seen and heard of you in the dunes and wide open stuff...

I just placed my order today for the Dixon kit. I wish that it was designed to eliminate the ball joints, but from what I hear, they are pretty stout. As for whether it is worth it or not, that is all personal opinion. For me, most of the driving that I do in the desert is not high speed but increased travel and better articulation will make the ride more comfortable and should help to keep four wheels grounded when the trail gets tricky. I am a bit concerned about the ride height that I will be loosing because I enjoy having the increased approach/departure/belly clearance that the RCD kit provides. SFA's are cool and will definitely extend the capabilities of the Ranger, but for me I would rather buy and modify a Jeep to handle trails that my long travel Ranger is not well suited for.

A new project log thread in the making Matt? What are you doing for the rear? Trucks going to be sweet as hell when you get that on there.
I was looking at dezert rangers and someone over there had mentioned that Brenthel built a LT kit for the 4x4 Rangers. Thing looked insane but it's apparently no longer offered and it was unbelievably expensive.

Thanks, looking forward to being part of the club. I have been following the same thread on DR. I was the one that posted about my conversation with Brenthel (Ranger242 on DR). Too bad because it looked super cool, but their kit also made the Dixon kit look affordable. As for the rear, I am hoping to put that off for a while, I will have to see how the truck sits with the front end done. Ultimately, I will likely run Deavers with flipped shackles and smooth bodies mounted to a bed cage and a leaf spring mount plate. This truck is always a project!

Sweetness. I was wondering if you were the one that talked with Brenthel or not. Can't go wrong with the DBR stuff though. That baby will be damn near bullet proof with that set up. Good luck with your build. I certainly look forward to seeing pics once you get the front end put together.
