"Rough Pavement" 1, Leaf Springs 0

So long story short I had a bit of noise in the back end. Both leaf springs have snapped in half (middle leaf only), and the passenger side had worked its way out and was scraping things. It's secured in place right now with a LOT of wire.

Not good times.

So, several questions. Can I change these myself? Seems I would be concerned about keeping the rear axle aligned right. If so, where can I get new leafs? Nobody carries them around here.

Try a local junkyard. Most vehicles are involved in head on or side collisions, so I'm sure you could find a decent set of leaf springs. Especially being in the Chicago area.

I'd say if you weren't 3 hours from me you could have my old ones for cheap.

As far as changing them yourself, it's not too difficult. If you have jack stands you should be fine. The center bolt through the leaf springs automatically centers itself on the spring plate and on the spring perch on the axle. No need to make sure it's ' aligned ' right.

Any 93-08 leaf spring will fit, I would try to get some off a newer ranger.

Call around to local spring shops, They shouldn't be that expensive.

Super easy swap...just hard to find jackstands tall enough! lol.

The rear axle is located to the leafspring and the leafspring centering pin. No alignmnet is needed, it's done for you.
