Not to sure if this is the right forum but here goes. How do you remove the front rotor on a 01 Ranger 4X4? Anything special I should know about? Thanks

 

It's simple. Remove the tire, Loosen the pressure plate, remove the rotor.

 

I think it's more difficult than that. It's a 4x4, so I think it would require removal of the automatic hubs and other things that I'm forgetting. But that's all I know, I have a 4x2 Edge so I'm not positive. I'm sure others will chime in

 

I took a pic. I think that from the looks of it, after I remove the caliper and 2 retainer clips the rotor should pop off. Am I correct?

 

That should do it, wow I'm stupid I thought our trucks weren't that simple to replace a rotor on. Hmm maybe I'll have some powerslots in the near future.....Christmas....

 

ya its very easy to do...thoes little clips suck to take off tho...and there is no need to put them back on. They are there just to hold the rotor on while building the truck in the factory.

 

like everyone said, take off the caliper and bracket, the small clips, and it just slides right off. you may find it WAY easier to use a blow torch to heat the bolts that hold the caliper BRACKET onto the spindle. they will pop off like nothing. do not use a blow torch near the caliper, haha

 

Just take a pair of side cutters and snip them off and throw them into the trash

 

Thanks guys, I didn't think that I would new brakes @ 28K but the drivers side rotor is toast. Funny thing is that it didn't start any noise until tuesday.

 

I don't remember taking off any clips when I had to pull the rotors for the superlift...?

maybe the guy before you already took them off....

most have them but not all

 

are they new my 2000 didnt have them either

no they are not new.

they really are no big deal. the lug nuts hold the rotor on when the tire is there.

 

for the best performance youll want HAWK Performance HPS pads, ive yet to see someone complain about them (please do, if someone had a problem)

right now i have ceramics on my F150, NO dust, very little noise, above average performance.

 

Well I've got it done. 2 Hrs to replace and paint. Piece of cake.
