help with lifting the back of my ranger... all knowledge appreciated! leaf springs...

ok so here is the deal with what i want from the rear end of my ranger. basically i wanna ditch the stock 2.5 lift blocks but still get like 1.5 inches of lift out of it... here are my ideas on how to go about that so tell me what you guys think. i could either
1. do the pro comp short AAL and beltech 6400s which would together make about 1.5 inches without the lift block. my questions with this are though, would i have to get new u bolts because i'd be ditching the blocks and where would i do that? and also that would probably stiffen the ride more than i would like.

or

2. perhaps find somewhere some 4 inch lift springs for the rear and then ditch the blocks for the correct amount im looking for. then again i run into the same problem with the new u bolts and how to get them.

any help is appreciated and please link me to anywhere that i might find 4 inch lift springs for a ranger that aren't too stiff or anything.

thanks,
Pavel

you could take the leafs off an explorer for 1.5" lift and build a pack with your rangers mixed in, the springs would be taller(idk if you could reuse your ubolts) and you could adjust stiffness buy playing around with leafs, and then run a 6400 shackle. ubolt threads can stretch and cause bolts to back off after a second use like that so double up the nuts for safety if you do reuse and dont get new ones

If you want to do it right and get the results you want I'd buy 4" lift leaf springs. You can buy u-bolts from Ruff Stuff or any number of places. I'll expand upon my answers once I get home this evening.

yes, that is exactly what i want to do but i dont know where to find 4 inch lift leafs that would bolt right on without me having to move any of the hangers. also do you know what size u bolts i would need. any idea on that for my 31 spline 8.8?

also how would this sound if i got the 4 inch leafs giving me 1.5 inches of lift in the rear and then cranking my t bars 1.5 inches to level it out and putting on 32s?

Here you go, these are the ones you want for 4" of lift. They also have a model of 6" of lift if you think your going to go higher in the near future.

Skyjacker Suspensions FR34 - Skyjacker Softride Lift Leaf Springs - Overview - SummitRacing.com

I think these are the u-bolts you need, I'll let KLC verify though. I don't know if new u-bolts are required either.

U bolt, 5/8" x 3 1/4" x 10" [UB325] - $12.50

ok thats perfect on the springs, KLC any verification on the u bolts? i'm pretty sure those will work as well but i dont know how to differentiate between something that would fit a 28 spline or a 31 spline axle let alone know the correct length... it also says that those are sold "each" so i'd have to buy two correct? not each as in a pair?

thanks for the help guys

Yes, those u-bolts will work fine. At 10" long they are too long for what you need. However, with 5" of thread, you will have plenty of thread to work with. So I’d just cut off the excess, or if you prefer just leave it.

You will need to buy 4 u-bolts, two for each side.

thanks for the help man, once the money comes through i'll be ditching the blocks and going with the new leafs, cranking bars, locking it and new tires/wheels. sounds like it'll come along nicely!
