Need some SAS bracket pics & idears

Wassup guys, i have a chance to either put my old leaf spring d30 from my old YJ into my 00 ranger, or either buy an 85 f-250LD which is 4wd. im gonna go with the cheapest/easiest. my truck is currently 2wd, but i can get a t-case for the super cheap. What im needing is some pics of the way u solid axle guys made your front leaf spring brackets, detailed pics would be nice, ive search and cant really find anything of use. exact measurements would be nice. im trying to keep this thing low as possible if i go this route(33's), possible spring under in the front. also what steering box are you guys using? could i use an old YJ steering box or is there something easier that would work(saginaw, etc.)?

thanks guys,

from what i have seen, lots of people use yoda boxes, badkarama used some other box to keep it inside the frame rail, i forgot what exactly it was tho

also, people that have not done FW axles say its hard to do all the suspension, so i would do the F2fiddy AND why do a SAS and leave it on a D30? it'll handle 33s but i would say do a 44 and dont worry about it.. just my.02 im goin big the first time lol

dont run a D30 for leaf springs. only reason i am running a D30 right now is to use the arms i bought.(coils)

now i can utilize the arms on a D44 which is what i ultimately wanted anyway.

well the only thing is i already have a d30 with superior super 30 kit plus i have a hi steer setup, and its pretty much rebuilt. so it will keep it for the cheap. ive run 35's on my YJ with the 4.0 and never had any problems.

btw i cant find my thread when i look for it, where'd it go...i found it on the main page but it wouldnt show in the suspension forums

The tabs and Brackets are the easy part......

And they are cheap to buy too.......to keep it low a spring under may be the way to go but I would look at an "inframe" shackle reversal with a small drop spring hanger. The length of the leaf spring will be one of the limiting factors, they need to have somewhere to flex when you stuff a tire and if you stay on the short side you are limiting that. The Toyota box would be fine with the weight of a Ranger but if you can find one a Scout box is better.....BTW, I would look for a D44 too.

well i was thinking of drilling a hole into the frame and putting a sleeve in it and using some shackles mounted that way, its the front brackets i cant figure out how i want to do, i would like to have them hidden buy the bumber if possible, if not then no biggie...can i get some coil spring pics of how your guys did your control arms and trac bars. also would TJ coils fit into the stock ranger upper coil buckets? if not did u do it on the outboard part of the frame. i got some good dibs on TJ LA control arms and RE coils. also have a guy i can get some lower spring mount buckets from. trying to decide the best way to go as this is my daily driver

btw 4wheel & offroad did a 97 reg cab for the ultimate adventures with a coiloverd d30 in the front, locked with 35's and they said it held up the whole trip....until the ride home, he broke the trac bar mount. i dont do too hardcore wheeling, mostly at uwharrie, but since my ranger is 2wd i havent had the chance. im really looking at converting to 4wd and sas is the way to go...im goin full width later on down the road, osha shut us down at work so i would like to do this as cheap as possible, and since i have the d30 it cut costs wwwwwaaaaaaaay down

btw next summer i hope to have fw d60 and 14b setup

EDIT: ZAbeard, if u would be interested in making a couple 100 bucks and can duplicate your, upper shock/spring brackets and control arm brackets i will also pay for materials. i can handle the frame crossmembers and the track bar brackets. pm me and lemme know. i can weld them on but when it comes to tube bending and major fab, im not too good
