Tortion bars limiting my abilities, answer?
I have an 05 ranger edge (with tortion bars) preventing me from getting the lowered stance I would like. I would preffer to do a 4/5 in drop. does anyone know what I could do to lower it this much. do you think I could swap it out for a stock arm assembly to allow me to use springs and spindles?

4x2 or 4x4? The main obstacle to your dropping it is that the truck is lifted about 2" from the factory. A 4x2 XL or XLT is really the starting place for a lowered truck.
Search on this board because it's been done. User "D." has done all sorts of things but I think his conclusion is that a stock suspension system can't do it RIGHT.
You can't change to XLT 4x2 arms -- it does no good. You have mounts that have been "dropped" from factory to lift the truck.
So, it's not your "springs" that are limiting you here: it's your geometry on your platform.
The biggest obstacle to a good drop being accomplished by "unwinding" the torsion bars is suspension travel -- almost none left upwards and too much left downwards.
That excessive down travel "unwinds" the torsion bar and creates potential handling problems and shifting of the bar in the mounts.
