Looking for a set of softer shocks

I currently have a set of Rancho RSX shocks on my truck. After taking it on the local trails yesterday they sounded horrible. Even going at a low speed whenever there was any bit of travel involved they were making noise.

I liked the shocks, however they ride a bit too rough for me. Now that I have a trail rig, I hardly ever take the Ranger on the trails, so I'd like to get something more soft. Can anybody give me information on a shock that is softer than the RSX that is in the same price range?

Bilstein 5100's.........but they are pricey at around $65+ per shock......i wish i could have afforded them when i got new shocks!

i really REALLY like the ride my Skyjacker Hydro's gave me on my Ranger.....and it is lifted........if Skyjacker makes them for your truck in stock height, i would nab them!

I was thinking about Skyjackers as well, the Bronco rides great on them.

I am going to look into the Monroes, I have never heard anything about them.

Ok, well if you know that much, do you know how much softer they might be, I gues I'm looking to find something comprable to the Skyjacker Hydros.

lol.......i have no clue how "soft" they are......if you want a great shock, then go with the Bilsteins.....Skyjacker doesn't make a shock for a '98+ Ranger period.........

Bilsteins are valved for each application, so they will ride the best......

i put Pro Comp 3000's on my mom's '97 Explorer.....they were a bit stiff at 1st, but after a few hundred miles, they softened up and ride really nice

Guess I'll look into the Blistens as well, don't want to pay too much though.
