I have been looking for some new coilover shocks for my truck. I have a 5.5" RCD lift on my 4wd. I got it nearly 2 months after it was released, and get this, I got the entire thing for $2300 installed. True story. The guys at the shop had no idea that it involved as much work as it did, and since it was there first time intalling this lift they gave me a little break. They said next time they install it, it will be like $2800 or more.

Anyways, I have been looking for some new shocks on the front end since mine are sagging a bit, and after 29k, a bit stiff. I have been playing phone tag with RCD a bit but finally got the specs on the front shocks.

They are bilstein 5100's that are obviously a special coilover style:
Extd: 19.125"
Col: 14.625"
Dia: 2.0"
Spring Rate: 600 lbs
Inside Dia: 2.5"
Spring Length: 12"

They told me to bump up the spring rate to 650lbs or 700lbs. I asked though, which is it? He said since its a 4.0L, the 700lbs would be best. Then you can back off the spanner/adj nut and have no preload on the spring. I think I'm going to get fox shocks. The 2.0 coilover remote reservoirs 6.5" with 14" Eiback 700lbs springs. I hope it rides better than now, I swear I have no suspension on the front now...lol

got any pics of your truck? you have the same setup i will have in a couple more weeks. ive got the 1" BL on and will be installin the RCD very soon.

 

I'm looking to mount 35"s on the truck in the next three weeks. I'm in desperate need of new coilovers. Mine are rusty as hell, stiffer than they def should be, and the bushings are shot!

Got any links to the fox or eibach products?

I follow ya now. You know, when Red posted the info about the fox coils I tried searching on-line for that part number with no luck. I was kind of baffled by that.

 

I located the springs on summit. I'll see if I can locate them again and post the link up.

I searched the Fox part number and came up with about 15 dif dealers. Every single one of them wants $235/piece for the shock. This one has free shipping though =]

Yeah I cannot find the spring either! I only see a 12" in 700lbs...or 14" in 600lbs (I think)

 

the site you listed for the fox shock also only lists a 14" 650lbs coilover spring.

If memory serves me right the RCD-bilstein COs are 600lbs.

I wanna buy the new shocks and coils after I work out the deal for a set of deavers, buy new rear shocks, modify my front bump stops, and I picked up a POR-15 starter kit to recoat the kit components.

I kinda wanted to buy the coils now since they're the cheapest part of the pair. I'm gonna be strapped after the rims, tires, rear shocks, and deavers.

 

Yeah right....I don't care if they would or not. $1200 can get me alot more than a pair of coilovers!

 

I hear ya. With my tax return I'll be able to afford the 15X8 Teflon Mojaves, just not sure if I want to get them yet. I found them on ebay for a 4-set for $525 I believe, free shipping.

The new tires will come later this year, but that's also why I haven't gotten the new rims yet. Not sure if I want 15x8 or 15x10s for 35x12.50x15 BFG MTs. What I do know is once my tax return gets here $455 of it goes to Scott for his 4.88 front diff and rear diff 4.88s. Already got the deavers and I want limit straps for front and bilstein 7100s for rear. I also need to kidnap Bob (rwenzing)
