I'm pretty sure the belltech 6400's are a chevy drop shackle. But you install them upside down and it gives lift to the ranger... or something along those lines.

You can only install them one way on a stock Ranger mount.

I have asked this many times, why does everyone want to run shackles? I don't understand the point. The front is the hardest to lift, the rear is easy. I mean with a BL you can fit 35's wasy in the rear, or stock for that matter, mind the stuffing, So why run shackles?

Shackles don't compromise ride quality, and are a much better alternative to blocks.

No instead of adding a taller block to lift the rear of the truck you just put the shackles on and leave the stock block.

if you get these shackles, do you also need to get some sort of aftermarket hanger that sits level with the shackles? or will oem work

No. all your doing is taking off the stock shackle and putting on a longer shackle that is what gives you the lift.

the 6400 shackles will give you about 2 inches, depending on your setup maybe a little more or less.
You don't have to change anything else to install them, just remove the factory shackle and install this one...and there is only one way to install them, same as the factory ones.

On a chevy truck (1500) the rear suspension is flipped, the leaf springs sit above the shackle mount, whereas on a ranger the leaf spring sits below the shackle mount. Both happen to use 2.5" wide leaf springs. As such, a drop shackle for a chevy 1500 is a lift shackle for a Ranger.

Dustin - the idea here is add shackles in the rear and tighten the torsion bars up front for a cheap 2" susp lift.
