Lift Options For 1998 2WD
Howdy ya'll! First post to the forum, so don't beat me up too bad. Here's my situation: in 1998 I bought a 1998 Ranger XLT flareside brand new and after putting just 78K easy miles on it, gave it to my Dad in 2010. Really basic truck - 4banger, automatic tranny, manual door locks, windows, and mirrors; however, it did have several "primo" options - chrome bumpers and wheels, sliding rear window, and a CD player! Colors are light metallic blue with blue interior - oh and garage kept with not a a single major scratch or ding in the paint and body, and not a tear in the upholstery! Call this the results of a mostly low-stress, zero abuse life in Florida!
Well, my Dad, who lives in NY state where it snows, called one day to let me know he was going to trade "my" Ranger in on a 2011 4x4 Ranger - a plan which I immediately protested. After all, what the dealer was likely to offer on trade would likely be less than what you'd pay nowadays for a descent mountain bike and that was way less than what it would be worth (to me anyhow)! So, I'll be bringing the old rig back home again, albeit, with a bit more wear-and-tear to the bed, but otherwise still exceptionally clean and straight.
So, when I get it back in my garage I'd like to do some mods to give it an updated look for the start of its second life with its first owner. Here's what I've got in mind: mild lift just to raise the front and rear a bit (2" or less)to level the body and make room for reasonably larger tires (30"???), and maybe install a turbo/supercharger on the 4banger or swap it for a V6. Very simple! No off-roading or other abuse planned; just cosmetic and possibly performance enhancements.
I know a lot of you have probably already researched this topic to death, so I'll appreciate any suggestions you may have to offer!
