Upper Control Arms?!

As many of you know, I'm lifting the truck more. ...yeah... I don't know why either. Anyways. I hear that I may need Upper Control Arms when I PUT THE COIL SPRINGS ON?! How will I know that I do? Or will I not until I try and put them on? I'm already going to be replacing my ball joints when I pull the coils off. It'd just be nice to know what all I need to do this project, now.

So far:

Ball Joints.
6in. Lift Shocks.
Coil Springs.
Upper Control Arms (?)
Shackles for the rear...

I LOVE SPENDING $$$!

the upper control arms push the upper balljoint out further, so a stock-like alignment is possible.

Ive heard of people getting away without running the arms, it just depends on your truck and how much of an alignment you can get.

Ill tell you right now, my 99 NEEDED arms, wouldnt work without

If you are putting 3" coils in you will need new arms. If you don't get them don't even bother replacing the balljoints because they will be destroyed very quickly. And you only need 3" lift shocks in the front (im guessing you have spindles on there right now). I can give you a part number for bilsteins if you want to go that route.

Yeah. I'll still have to lift the rear.. so why not go all around with new shocks? Control Arms are gonna sock me right in the nuts. Ouch!

You will need shocks all around, I'm just saying you need 6" lift shocks in the back and 3" lift shocks in the front since spindles do not change the suspension travel, but coils do.

the shocks you have currently are not lift shocks, if they were they would be bottoming out

Ok. Ok. So... once I put the 3inch Coil Springs and Shackles in the rear. Will it be noticeably higher? Like.. will I be able to tell in and out or not really?
