the top bearing would be a little out of the cup and with some torque that bearing would fail wich causes the rest to fail
i havent try it without boot...but i am pretty sure that is what happen...
what years is the explorer you shorten the shaft...on how did you shorten it?

is this a common superlift problem or is something else going on here?

I'm having this same problem right now... Anyone come up with a solution?? I too am only blowing out the drivers side cv.. Just had it replaced brand new, drives fine in 2wd but when you drive in 4wd boom there it goes again... Ughhh wtf do I do? Bars arnt cranked like at all.. And superlift says it keeps stock cv angles..

In all reality, you need to find a longer CV shaft. you could try putting spacers in another Ranger cv shaft, but i don't think you'll be able to get it long enough (that's what she said) So take some measurements and get you spline count and go Junkyard shopping.

2011 Ford Ranger front cv axles coming apart

I just started having a problem with my driver side front cv axle coming apart. Replaced the first one and it broke right after I put it in 4L. Replaced that one and the next one broke again after putting it in 4L. I see other folks are having this same issue. I do have a 5' Rough Country Lift on it. My friend got under the front and I backed up, he noticed the front differential move. I tock it back to the shop and they are going to check my front diff bushings. Work in progress now. Has anybody found that bad diff bushings can cause the Left front cv axle to come apart.
