suspension lifting questions
i did search before this. read some good stuff and now have some ideas and questions. i do plan to do as much of the work myself as i can. if i can rebuild a bike i am sure i can figure this stuff out. haven't done much on the truck yet so i apologize if i ask some noob questions.
this is for a 99 B2500 5speed 4x2
i am looking to do a couple inches of lift on it. was talking with a mechanic and he was talking about adding some air bags to the back and new springs and shocks in the front. according to him this is all i would need to go up a couple of inches. but also told me he hasn't done a lift in a very long time. is this true?
next question is are the spring lengths different for the 4x4 models vs the 4x2models? especially the front. i assume that they would be interchangeable and possibly increase the ride height.
if i cranked some on the torsion bars for another 1" how much will that affect the ride quality? this is a part time daily driver and long distance traveler. ride quality needs to stay good.
replacing suspension parts can't be the easiest thing to do, but what kind of specialty tools will i need to get?
thanks for any suggestions.
