Superlift - What Tire Size???

I am getting ready to put a Superlift setup on my 2003 XLT 4x4. The 4" suspension lift plus the 3" body lift kit, so I can run 35's. My mechanic is telling me that if I run 35's with this lift, I face the problem of breaking ball joints due to the IFS and possibly other problems. He said that I would be better off just getting the 4" suspension lift and running 33's.

I have seen a lot of Rangers with this set up (suspension/body/35's), so I need to know if any one out there with this setup is having any problems (i.e. ball joints, etc.)

yup. alot of guys on 35's will tell ya the front end cant take the stress.

ball joints, CV's, tie rods, hub bearings, all of it wears out faster.

Nope, I have just a body lift and 35s. You're good man. There's a tiny risk, but its not going to happen.

Any time you modify a vehicle beyond how it came from the factory you run the risk of part failure. I run 35's with a SL and a 1" bodylift and it is not a if I am going to have part failure it is more like when and be prepared for when it happens.

all suspension parts wear out, its just a matter of when

putting 35s on your ranger will just wear them faster...

doesn't mean something will straight out break, but it WILL wear faster

i clear my 35's with room to spare, and if something breaks then it is just a reason to upgrade it to something better.

How long have you guys been running your 35's? What problems and cost have you incurred?

I've ran 35s since September 2006. The 35s rub but that is because i only have a body lift. Otherwise no suspension failure yet (knock on wood)

You have to remember 35's are also alot harder on brakes and axle. I have the RCD kit with 33s and they are large enough for me.

Ryan, what all did you need for your SAS conversion and how much did it run you?

I don't think he did a thread detailing his swap. Go to the forum section "build logs" and look at "034x4"s SAS thread. He has good pictures and whatnot.
