You could get Camburg/Giant/garage-builder shackles for not much more, and they are actually built. The ones above are weaker than you're stock shackles, the plating is thinner, the welds won't hold under stress, and there are no internal gussets or boxing that would reinforce it under pressure. I'd suggest an aal over that anyday, they are the same price and won't have any affect on wheel hop, and definitely are not anywhere near as bad as blocks.

I know I offer my opinions a lot in this section and I know a lot of people don't agree with me most of the time, but I have been doing this for awhile and I know what works and doesn't (most of the time :P ); I'd rather people have safe parts that than buy weaker just 'cause they are cheaper and MAYBE regret it down the line. I'm not saying those would break right after you put em on, and I'm sure you would be more than fine if you don't drive crazy, I just wouldn't trust them on my truck.

http://camburg.com/fords1P.html

http://giantmotorsports.com/products/shackle.php

They don't require you to cut wholes in the bed, 'cause for a lift you'd be installing them in the same way the stock shackles are already facing. It'd give you about a 1.5" lift. More expensive, but worth it.

trent, i'd have to disagree. i got the the lowering shackles and they are VERY sturdy. i was going to gusset and plate them but i felt there was no need whatsoever. you know how hard i offroad my truck and i havent seen any sign of weakness from them. i bought mine for $30 on ebay and would do it again if i had to.

Get 4 leaf chebbie springs with the support leaf and swap those in, and flip/cut/box the shackle hanger like I did. I probably got about 4-5" over stock with no blocks.

Hey, I like the camburg tig welded ones, gonna have to order some of them when I get lifted!!

So you install those like the stock ones are and you don't have to do any customfab crap to mount them??

please do not get these......please. you have no need for them whatsoever. on the site it says you will need to cut the bed to mount em. if you are just getting shackles for lift DO NOT GET THESE. it is a total waste of money, especially for the tig ones

Yeah but trent just said

So that's why I was asking...

No holes if you're mounting them the same way that the stock shackles are right now. Holes are cut for flipping them and gaining more travel (while at the same time making the rear end squat further), so if you want the lift install them w/o flipping the hangars, if you want the travel install them w/flipped hangars.

you';re right about cutting the bed, my bad.

but there is no reason to buy those shackles to get a simple lift when the lowering shackles are more than strong enough. they are made for a fullsize truck, they will do fine on our mini;s

Anyways, i could have a friend cut me out a couple pieces of 1/4 steel on a cnc, weld them together and slap some grade 8 bolts on it then.

That would cost me about 50 bucks.

Why the hell didn't I think of that.

Trent I agree with you on the strenght part, and i understand why you wouldnt put them on your truck

however, if you are looking for a cheap lift, and dont plan to go jumping your truck off any sand dunes anytime soon, then dont buy the camburg or gaintmotorsports

they are 3-4 times the price of the chevy lowering shackle, and unless you really plan to beat your truck, you dont need anything more then that
