Icon5 31's... 3inch lift

hey so i recently bought some destanation MTs (31-10.50-15) but now i want to lift my truck just a little bit. i was thinking like 3 inches. my question is: will my truck look odd with those size tires, and the truck three inches taller?
let me know if you have any setup similar. pictures would be great.

thanks

In my opinion 31's on 3" lift is too small. I have 33's on like 3.5" lift and it looks good.

I have a friend that was running 31's with a 3" BL. It looked ok because it was a 4x2. On a 4x4 they look way to small. His truck is a 96 i think. Not sure if it started lower then yours.

I just noticed you're from Kenai Alaska. I worked with a guy that always talked about the Kenai Peninsula. He also always talked about the 80's. LOL!

Anyway, you should be able to fit 33's. So 31's will look a tad goofy, but IMO, I would run the tires down before getting new ones. I plan on just buying my lift parts and tires and such and waiting until this tires are toast before I lift and swap.

to make those 31's look good IMO and get sum lift i would say go with an aal and tighten your t-bars. or if you dont have t-bars get sum coil spacers. Just what i think would look good.

yup im from alaska, some of the best muddin around. except oklahoma where im from. at least there is no "red mud" just regular mud. fishing and hunting are awesome here too.

hey thanks for the input, yah i def. wont swap and lift right away, not at least till the tires are crappy. i think then i will do some bugger stuff all at the same time.... solid axle swap, 4-inch lift, 3 inch body. and some -mongo- tires should look pretty sick>

I agree, looks good to me too. Would look even better with some more aggressive tires, but if that was my truck,I wouldn't complain about that set up.

Eww,actually I just noticed the tires you have. I used to have those same tires on mine. Man they were horrible and lumpy. I've switched over to the stock Wrangler RT/S (I know,I know...what does RTS stand for anyways? Road Traction Sucks?) but I'm much happier with the smoothness on the highway, and to be honest, the Wrangler's did much better than I thought they would when I did some serious offroading with some Jeep buddies who all laughed at me before we started and then congratulated me at the end after surprising them and myself about the truck's and tires capabilities.

if its close to the previous truck (two above) i think that looks great, they fill out the wheel wells really well. and they don't look small. if it is a 4x4 you should be able to fit em stock. and at that you could get away with a t bar crank or spacers depending on what it is. though you can always sell your small tires i know people will buy em if they have decant tread. so thats my .02 cents

I think it looks fine. It is better in person. Whats wrong with the tires? They are great. They ride good and handle well off road.

They were on the truck when I got it from my dad. I think they had about 110k miles on them,so they were getting pretty worn down. They were noisy and just as crappy in the snow as the Wrangler's are. One bad tire rotation screwed them up I think, because the shop rotated them in an X pattern when they should have just gone front to back on the same side.

Ok, so the tires were worn out. See mine are pretty much brand new so I actually have tread left. So thats probably why mine did better than yours apparently. I hate places that do stuff half ***.

I agree with carson^^. The 4x2 really looks good with the 31's but he naturally sits lower than a 4x4 even with the 3 bl. The 4x4 looks alot better than i thought it would with a 3' bl on 32's!!! Awsome lookin trucks none the less!!!

Quick question,

Is your truck 2wd or 4wd? The avitar pic looks like 4wd.

Personally, if it's 4wd, just crank the t-bars a bit and throw em on. I ran 32's under my 02 for a while with no BL or anything and it looked great! I was thinking about going back to a 31 before I scored my 33's.

I kept complaining about the tires, and my dad wanted to get new tires for his '08 B4000 like the Sport Kings he had on what i snow my truck, so he said if he bought new tires and I paid half,he'd give me the stock Wrangler's which had like 5000 miles on them. He ended up getting some nice Cooper Discover LT/R's and I have the crap *** Wrangler RT/S's,but with my FX4 Alcoas soon on their way, I just need to find a half decent used set of 31" A/Ts and I'll be happy.

Stock sucks.

Whats the difference in 4x4 and 4x2? My truck is the same height as a 4x4 version.
