Shocks

I need to get new shocks for my truck. I have been looking at Bilstein and Rancho. What brand and models would you guys recommend? Its stock height and its 4x4.

Thanks,
Nick

Most people on here will say Bilstein. lots of guys on here will say to stay away from ranchos. What are you looking for out of shocks? real stiff or a smooth ride? I personally have KYB monomax and I love them.

I'm looking for shocks that I can go off roading with pretty hard and are reliable. What level would you say would be the best for off roading stiff or smooth ride?

I have the Procomp ES3000. They ride like a dream. If you decide to go with them I will get you the proper model number for the rears. The ones that procomp says are too short (prolly 2wd).

As for where to buy them, I got them from Jackit.com. Call them to order them. They are very nice and helped me out after I found out the rears were the wrong size (once again ProComps fault not theirs)

For offroading - you are looking for a stiff shock, as they let you dig in for great traction - a soft shock lets you take in a bit of the bumps for a bit of a more comfortable ride - but again, you arent digging in for the traction needed...

Its all your own choice - KYB seem stiff - but the ride quality honestly isnt all that bad .. I have never tried BIlstein myself - but they seem to sound comfortable from what most peopel suggest

Rancho 9000

I like my rancho RS9000xl shocks that I got from Off Road Warehouse. With the external adjustment I can dial the ride in for my daily drive that I like to off road hard on the weekends. Check out those guys they seemed to know a lot.

I just installed the KYB MonoMax shocks front and rear. I think they're good.

Check it out. Made a slight difference in my ride height too

my friend had air shocks and they were quite nice, put them as soft as you want to do daily driving then pump them up when you need haul. Best of both worlds.
