Limit strap length

Stock '08 Maxxed bars with prekeys. How long of a limit strap should I get? I was thinking of mesuring how much drop there is from on the ground to having the wheel barely touching, but not sure if that is the right way to mesure for straps. So I figured I'd ask and see if someone already put any on a setup like mine

Yeah, limit straps are kind of pointless for your set up. If anything your shocks will extend out before the actual suspension gets a chance to.

I don't see the point. To answer your question, it depends on how and where you want to mount them.

I just don't want my shock to pop out again with me not having the sway bar...

It won't if you have the right shocks. You can put on limit straps if you want though.

Are the CV axles binding, or will they bind at full droop? You don’t want the CV’s to bind, but you also don’t want to limit the travel if you don’t need to. On my set-up, I need limit straps because the UCA would hit the coil-over springs. That’s the only reason I have them. I can’t say for a stock suspension set-up though. Never had a problem since I had the sway bar attached.

A sway bar only can act as travel limiter on one wheel at a time. If both wheels are off the ground, then there is no effect. In other words, it's unlikely that the lack of a sway bar contributed to your misfortune with the shock.

As to your primary question, jacking up the truck to let the wheels droop fully would be the way to measure for the limit strap. It might be tricky calculating the length you should have when you need to consider the mounting hardware. My Superlift came with the limit strap, so I've never had to do the figuring. Maybe a call to ORW or 4WP or some other retailer would be helpful.

EDIT: just read your other thread; the maxed T-bars are the probable cause of the shock damage, so limit straps would help.
