Torsion bar code confusion

I checked my code under SPR this morning to see what I have. Alledgedly, there is supposed to be 2 "digits" uder this SPR.

I have BBFF under SPR, so I assume I have B bars. But why do I have 4 "digits"?

Yes, you have "B" bars. Ford started using the doubled characters (4 total) in 2004, I think. Who knows why....

The spring rate. 1's are the stiffest, F's are the weakest. It goes from B to 2 to 1 at the top end. I have B's which work pretty well with 35's with my relatively light 4x2 with a 3.0.

That makes alot of sence. I used to spec out F350's with cranes on the right side bedbox. They would get stiffer springs on the right, and an adjusted alignment.

I wonder if, in fleet use, the Ranger is customized from the factory similarly...

The cranes we speced weighed 1,500 pounds, the spring rating needed to be adjusted...
