Swaping back section of frame?

Is it possible to remove the rivits that hold the front leaf spring hangers and pull the back half of the frame off and put another back in and bolt it on? One of my freinds sold me his bag setup and frame, and I was looking at it, and it looks like the 2 halfs are just held together with rivits at the front leaf hangers.

you want to pull the back half of your frame off?? Huh?? The frame is a solid piece front to back, you can't take the back half off.. Maybe I'm just confused, or didn't understand your post???

you would have to notch the frames then weld the new frame up if you wanted to do that

doesn't sound like a good idea structurally... might make it weaker?

No I've seen it done before and it can be made just as strong or stronger as long as you do it right.

I don't see why rear sections couldn't be swapped as long as the donor is a similar year and the same bed length (6' or 7'). Not sure if the rear section is any different from Reg Cab to Super Cab but I doubt that it is.

I would reassemble with SAE Grade 8 or metric Class 10.9 bolts and matching lock nuts.

Looks like a solid set-up there. Your trucks probably my favorite lowered truck on the site, keep up the good work!

well you already did it.
but thats why the rivets are there, so you can swap back portion of the frame rails incase of an accident or soemthing.
