2006 XLT lift???

Ok I have had my truck for a little more than a week. I need to lift it. Its a 2006 supercab xlt 4x4. I really want to do some off roading (no rockcrawling). I am thinking i really just want 31's maybe 32's. Would I be ok with a 3 inch body lift on the 32"? Also I am running the 4.10 gears, will that be ok with 32"

What Neil said. A 32" with those gears will be fine, I'm running 33"'s with the same gears and have had no problems yet whatsoever.

If you dont lift your truck go w/ the 32s... but if you get a lift then definitely go with 33s!

Keep in mind he has an XLT, which even with a 3" lift will be ~2" shorter than Edge's with the same amount.

why do you say that Mike
my XLT stands higher than any stock Edge that ever came near it
and his XLT might just already have 15" rims from the factory had that option been checked off on a 2006 order form

he has a 4x4 xlt, isnt that the same height as an edge since its the same suspension?

now a 4x2 xlt would be about 2inchs shorter

yea its a 4x4 so it will ahve the same clearence as an edge/ new sport(lame) models so he oculd actually throw 33s under there stock however that isnt such a great idea, so 32s stock or lift it and throw on some 33s!

My bad forgot about the 4x4. Neil, you have an FX4, not XLT, d'oh! And my name's not Mike dangit!

You'll fit 33's fine then, and I'd go with 15's/16's, anything bigger is ... in my opinion.

Well, It looks like I will be getting some 32" and leave it stockish for now, then maybe later (when a lift kit is available) I will lift it. Thanks for all the help.

trent a XLT 4x4 offroad and an FX4 offroad are the same thing but a FX4 level II does have some upgrades but if you still look at the build sheet its a XLT at heart thats the funny thing...

Last time I checked my Ranger emblem on my FX4 L2 it said XLT under it.

FWIW, and no one's metioned it. He should be able to fit 33 x 10.5 tires stock. Now I'm not sure if the 16 inch rim will cause rubbing, but I know I not "suppose" to get rubbing on my 15x7 Alcoas running 33 x 10.5 x 15. That's w/o lifting, suspension or body. Now 33 x 12.5 and there's suppose to be a little trimming.
