help with lift on 2001 Edge
hey guys, my name is aaron and i'm quite new to the truck scene and this site, as this is my first post. anyway, i had a few questions about getting a lift on my 2001 Edge and you guys know what you're talkin about so i thought i would ask
Background info: 2WD, 5 speed manual transmission, completely stock
Question: i came accross this site a couple days ago and i've been researching all the threads ever since and i've gained this knowledge -- for the front i'm pretty sure a 3" spindle lift and cranking my t-bars would be the best bet. and for the rear i wasn't really sure which is better -- AAL or blocks, or even if you use both (like i said.. i'm really new haha). so i was basically wondering if (1) this was correct, and if not please correct me, (2) if it would keep my truck level, (3) if i could get a 3-4" lift without a suspension lift, and (4) if this is the best way to lift my truck without spending TOO much money.
i'm sorry if this is a stupid question and if this thread has already been posted, but i searched and didn't quite get all the answers i was lookin for. thanks in advance for all your help!

welcome fellow californian! looks like you know what you are talking about, you already have blocks, so get some AALs, and like andrew said, body lift is the only non-suspension one and its 3". Body is cheaper then spindle...but i say go spindle first...easier installation from what i have heard...but im sure we could get a cali meet together if you want to do a body...id love to learn something new

wow you guys were a ton of help.. thank you so much for the replies. do you have any suggestions on a specific spindle lift kit or AAL kit?? and with my current stock blocks would i get a 3" lift with just AAL's in the rear?
and about the cali meet.. that would be sweet. what part of california is simi valley located?

so for a complete 3" lift all around (front and rear) i would need the spindles, shackles, and AAL's right? and i think i read that i would need an extension for my transmission as well.. is that right?
again, sorry if these are dumb questions or they have already been answered, i'm just trying to get an idea of all the parts i would need to make my vision become a reality haha

you would only need a shift extender with a body lift, with spindles you wouldnt need them...at least as far as i can remember..the AALs give ya about 1.5" inch maybe, i have AAL and shackles in back spindles in front and my back end is higher.

Alaska Aaron not to correct you but you said Fabtech body lift. I think they make the spindle lift but Performance Accesories makes the body lift. Camburg also makes lifts for the 2wd Edge but they are really expensive and hardcore. A suspension lift usually looks nicer but then again you get what you pay for. IMO I think a Fabtech 3" suspension lift kit with 33x12.5R15 tires on 15x10 rims would look killer. That's actually what I plan on doing once I get the money to do it. Justin's lift is slightly different than yours will be. He was just a regular 4x2 with a coil spring front suspension and the 2wd Edge used a torsion bar setup. But anyways 3 inches is 3 inches regardless of vehicle. You could also go with a t-bar crank if the rear still sits higher than the front after the lift. I think Jusnes Modified sells the entire kit for $700. The kit being the Fabtech. Just my $.02.
