4x4 brake rotor size and fitting 15" rims

I've read that the 2004 and up 4x4 brake rotors are slightly larger in size which makes clearance of the caliper on aftermarket 15" rims a bit tight. Just wondering if pre 2004 brake rotors would be a direct fit on a 2004 and up Ranger 4x4 or would calipers and everything have to change too in order to gain more clearance on 15" aftermarket rims? The ultimate goal is the ditch the stock 16" rims and replace with 15" aftermarket Procomp 7069 15x8 rims to gain a better deal on 33" tires.

I beleive you will need teh old knuckles, calipers, and caliper mounting brakcets. If you do go that route, I have all that from my 01 wreck if you need it.

I think you would need all that is mentioned above. My 15" Nomads actually have more clearance by the caliper than my 15" Alcoas did, if that tells you anything!

So Fullscale, your truck came stock with 15" Alcoas right? From what I've read it sounds like 07 & 08 4x4's have the same size front brake setup. Have you had any issue with clearance between your caliper and the inside rim?

You have 12inch rotors. the next size down is 11.2 something inch rotors. You'd need that year knuckle to bolt on (01 and 02 only i believe). can use stock caliper.
As long as you have like, 1/8 inch or so of clearance around caliper to wheel, you're fine. Wheels don't flex that much.

Yep, my truck came with 15" Alcoas. I only had one issue with them... I got into some mud/snow and something got caught up in the tin clip that the brake pads sit in and it scraped against the inside of my rim a bit. Check out some of my previous threads, I know I have some pics out there! I'm at work and can't find them!

I put 15" Classic II's on my '04 right after I bought it--there's definitely not a huge amount of room around the calipers, but they will fit fine.

I was running 15" eagle 058's no problem on my 08 ranger. there was only about 1/4" clearance between the caliper and the inside of the rim but it did it!
